What's F1? And why is it not mounted flush (my OCD asks)?

Solid question, F1 is a thermal fuse, and it's not mounted flush because its purpose in the circuit is to make sure the varistor next to it doesn't get too hot.

That's more or less how their protection circuit works: when the voltage across the varistor increases its resistance decreases, meaning it will pull more current and start to heat up. When it gets too hot it trips the fuse, which shuts off Furman's "Protection OK" LED. If the voltage gets high enough it will effectively cause a short, tripping the resettable breaker (not pictured as it's panel mount).

So that's all the protection stuff, the "conditioning" part is just an LC pi filter. And that's it. That's the M-8x.

Purple fuzz face pcb turned up today. I'm still hunting for an enclosure for this one though. It's slightly too wide for a 125b and I don't want to go up to a 1590bb.

I've never heard of a 1590b3 but after a quick Google I found them in purple! I might have something else in the pipeline but I'll keep this as a backup. Thanks @Feral Feline

B3s are the beezkneeze!
They’re a great intermediate size. Not as tall as N1 or vertical BB, but close enough to look good vertically sandwiched between N1 & BB.

I’ll throw up a pic when I get home.

These showed up from OSHPark. Turned out just as I was hoping. I’m going to use all carbon-film resistors to match and wima caps for a nice color pop.

ALSO suggesting you throw in a 1550M. Just a little wider than a 1590BB, 6mm.
Horizontally oriented it could mean the difference between top-jacks or not in a build.

Nice I've never seen the M either. I've been buying a taller 1590bb from banzai for a long time but the M looks cool. The one problem with Hammond is the limited range of colours you can get them in. I tend to default to banzai so I can get gold and black sparkle etc.

My first (working) build was in a 1550M. I'll need to print one to test whether or not a previous build would fit in it the way I want.

I missed this post.

As you can see, you get a little bit better width, which I think helps tremendously if you're doing a two-footswitch build and have clodhopper-cum-clown gunboats for shoes like me. N1 enclosures are just too narrow for two footswitches — just 'cause something will physically fit doesn't mean it should be done. I realised that when I was going to put 5 stompers in a horizontal BB and found even 3 stompers was a squeeze of practicality.

The B3 is a little shorter than the N1, though, and I've already found a few PCBs (meant for N1) that won't leave enough room for the footswitch unless you offboard wire the pots and use small knobs.


As for the BOOM,
