Yeah that sounds like they aren't using the same forwarding system that they used before. I don't think I've ever had one take longer than two weeks, but it's been a little while since I used the cheapest method.... I usually forget to order parts until the last minute.

EDIT - True Story: We were at a shopping mall one time and I saw a lady whose child's binky had fallen on the floor. She picked it up, stuck it in her mouth and sucked on it to clean it, then popped it right back in the kid's mouth.

That might have been the day we started weaning my son off his.

I've been nervous to use the cheapest option since they added the threats about how long it takes

Usually I get it within 2 weeks, but the order prior to this took over 3 weeks, so I was expecting that to be the new normal.

It's Saturday afternoon here. No mail delivered on weekends. My PedalPCB order from 16 June was last seen:

So it may or may not be somewhere between hemispheres but Australia Post haven't seen it yet.

The only other things I have on the way are a few more doohickeys from AliExpress.

Last night I started to replace the DC socket on the CE-2B pedal I built a while ago (Aion Azure) because the outie jack nut just won't stay tight. Replaced it with an innie and jerry rigged a socket to it - today I will patch in a plug to the power wires. I refuse to "permanently" solder in DC jacks because everything needs maintenance sooner or later.

Might check some of my other builds and see if they need to be upgraded. Other than that, the rain has cleared and I'll probably go for a walk.

I wouldn't rule it out... It's quite common for tracking to show that the package is still sitting somewhere in the USA (usually Miami) up until the moment it shows up at your door.

But these days? Your guess is as good as mine. They're all so unpredictable.

I could ship you an order today and it might arrive before that one.

Thankfully the number of actually lost packages is much better than it was a year or two ago.

I tell ya what you don't want to do though... Don't accidentally drop a UPS shipment into a USPS drop box.

You will never see it again. They do not hand it off to UPS, and they do not return it. It is gone... forever.

Australia Post is usually pretty good with tracking, their site works with most trackable international mail. Once they get hold of a package it'll show up on my Aus Post account very quickly. Actually getting it to my mailbox is much slower, of course. And they've been known to change their minds; "out for delivery today" sometimes changes back to "coming soon" by late afternoon. But I'd expect to hear about it pretty fast when they do get the package.

Three weeks isn't that bad anyway, I wouldn't get really concerned until week six.

With GlobalPost 6 - 8 weeks is more typical than the exception, and it's really not shocking when they take even longer.

First Class is usually a good bit faster, and tracking is usually better, but not always.

Every once in a while GlobalPost surprises me and delivers in less than two weeks, but that is quite rare.


I would only use GlobalPost if shipping costs are an absolute deal breaker, or if USPS has suspended operations to your area. (again)

Shoresy was an amazing series but you do need to be real up on your hockey, especially non-NHL hockey, to truly appreciate it

Yep, that's the standard method (USPS First Class), not the "economy" method (GlobalPost).

The name "First Class" gives the impression that it's a premium service of some sort, but truthfully it's the lowest tier service that USPS offers.

It's the most reasonable method for international shipments though...

GlobalPost is a little cheaper but can be horribly slow. However, recently a customer was able to get GlobalPost to cover the cost of a lost shipment, which really amazed me. USPS First Class is uninsured and unguaranteed, if it gets lost or damaged they do nothing.

Priority Mail International is what you'd consider the premium service, you'll usually receive your shipment within a week or two but the cost is considerably higher. (Typically starting around $20 - 40 depending on the destination)
