PPCB order arrived, got a Pythagoras, Spatialist and a custom EEPROM with all of the other algorithms I wanted - the plan is to maybe store the other EEPROM in the pedal itself and switch them on demand. Is that doable or could there be issues with static electricity or something over time? I assume if I store it in an ESD safe bag and take care to ground myself whenever I switch them it should be fine?

Rest of the stuff is a Fuzz Aldrin, Fornicus OD, Chaos Machine, Figment Preamp, Pandora's Box and an Octaking.

Which one is your favorite so far?

This new batch I don't know yet, but from the ones I already are familiar with: Cyber Psychic, Lluna, Octavella and, of course, the Multi Noise Processor 2, which is a great thing to feed pedals and synth inputs with. He has made lots of flavours of fuzz, but I always find these hard to judge next to each other. I did learn that a lot of his pedals seem to work best on guitar, even though he never uses a guitar in his own performances. So that breathed a lot of new sounds into existence in my room!

I am sure I'm going to love the still incoming Tone Mosaique as well. I heard from the builder that Misty Cave is his most popular pedal alongside his iconic 88 Oscillo Fuzz

He used to do wild clang-y industrial stuff back in the day (under Defektro) but his performances under his own name are minimalistic drone . But often do show his own pedals at work. It's easy to appreciate his designs because of it, and thus a brand I'd be proud to own everthing by (except the long discontiued Steroid, sadly).

Also, amusing how Deadend FX traced all his pedals into these typically huge pcbs, while lastgasp's tend to as small as possible. 😅

Somebody here made some pcbs for dual eeprom usage on fv-1 pedals. I placed an order a long time ago with jlpcb, so I have 4 I'll never use. Works great!

Just out of curiosity - how much do you usually spend on germanium transistors, the "proper" ones like ocxx, nktxxx, etc. Throw out some numbers per piece.. per set, or 10-20 pcs.

hell yeah! I love the last gasp stuff I have built from DEFX. Thanks for all the Info. I didnt know very much about the actual company and his music!

Ooh, interesting. Are the gerber files available somewhere? I'm not sure if international shipping is worthwhile for this, it comes out to about the same (or probably more) than putting one in a JLCPCB order. Although tbh my backlog is so big at this point that I need to freeze all board purchases.

If you're in the EU, maybe some sort of a board swap would be interesting, but I'm assuming you're in the US.

Here's a link to the dual eeprom PCB

And I found someone who made it on vero

Hey, I might actually do the vero one, thanks! I'll consider it for sure.

Swapped a Moog Subsequent 37 CV for a rather rare updated CV version of the Soviet MiniMoog (well, not really. There's too many differences). A downgrade for sure, but it being fully through-hole and mostly build with Soviet NOS parts (85% they claim), makes for an awesome little thing that might be fun to tinker with (more CV!)

I had never heard of a Soviet minimoog. Where did you find it?

Well, it's not really a Minimoog. It was kind of as famous in the USSR as the MiniMoog was in the west. Quite a different thing, but with the same building blocks as monosynths of its day, so no surprises as to how it functions. Mine is a Polivoks reissue. Original Polivoks used to sell for cheap after the collapse of the USSR, as people in the West loved the gnarly sound of it. Nowadays you have to pay up quite a bit for a good looking unit, so this was a better investment I think, and is not gigantic and heavy.

An article about the original.

About it's most famous part, that might also be of interest on this forum: "the filter [...] is where the Polivoks starts to become interesting. Eschewing conventional designs, Kuzmin decided to develop his own filter topology, and after a year's research he chose a simple 12dB/octave device with just eight components: two op‑amp ICs and six resistors. This circuit — which offers both low‑pass and band‑pass responses — flies in the face of conventional wisdom which states that analogue filters must include capacitors to function. But Kuzmin had taken advantage of the capacitance within the op‑amps themselves, and the result was a unique device with a harsh and heavily distorted character that bore no resemblance to the 24dB/octave filters in the Minimoog."

My version. I found it on a German online marketplace.

Finally arrived yesterday! My ssl18....And this one goes to 11! I wasn't expecting as much of a sound difference from my motu m4, but I gotta say even just playing back already recorded tracks it's a marked difference. Let alone the workflow feature set. I'm really excited to get some recording done!

Love love love my SSL 2+ interface. Saw it in NAMM when it was launched, even as noisy as it is there, I knew it was good. Ordered it from my phone right there at their booth. Holds its own against much MUCH higher priced DACs. While I don't need more than 2 channels, looking at the 18 it has the listen back compressor. KILLER sound.

Did I mention I love my SSL interface?

Yeah, their booth at NAMM got me this year. I was originally looking at the Audient ID48, but SSL FTW baby!
