What's on the workbench?

This one doesn't.... and I'm not necessarily saying that's a good or bad thing, but it's definitely different.

It's more like an overdrive that has been modified to sound fuzzy.

@Aleph Null described it as a Tube Screamer centipede, and that's a pretty accurate statement.

It has the TS clean-bleed going on, and that's a bit odd with a fuzz. I have to wonder if it would be better suited to bass...

I think you should get a bass for Christmas and try it out… and then compare it to that other bass centric fuzz ild *love* to buy your PCB for as soon as you’ve dusted it off your shelf… 😎😁

That does sound odd, now, I like muffs, sure I do have a preference but I would be happy to use an of the variants out there for my respective purposes, and in a completely different context I love a tube screamer, and as the same I have a preference but I would be happy with any of the variations if the option was limited… but what what you are describing to me sounds…. Well to me 🤮… I’m sure there are some out there that will dig it and that’s cool. But if I had to take a guess you have revealed to me the most likely reason it got tossed into a drawer and forgotten about 🤣 IMG_2982.gif

That's probably why I hate it four times as much as I hate Tube Screamers!

Makes me wonder what would happen if you flipped the last two stages to inverting soft clipping...

P.S. Other people get good sounds out of the TS, but every time I play one, it just feels gross and disappointing.

What some are forgetting is that this thing could sound AMAZING , yet because they're expecting it to sound like this or that but it doesn't...

... well, just junk it. Throw that baby out with the solder-ridden IPA-bathwater!

It was put in a drawer because it didn't sound like what Mike Matthews wanted oh so many years ago, a MUFF-sounding device.
If it didn't sound like a Muff then, why has he OK'd the project now?
He could've said "yeah, it's not a Muff but it sounds good enough to market it as something else..."

I'm sure there are some transistor-diehards that don't consider ANY op-amp device to be worthy of the MUFF-monicker.

I've got an inkling this thing might be awesome on bass.

Ironically now that I'm using a Helix (which is a whole nuther can of worms) I love the Tube Screamer model. Mostly because it doesn't really sound like a Tube Screamer...
