What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

I got burned on the last 2 straps I ordered from Ali and it looks like this is the seller I should have been looking for!
I'll have a look at my past purchases, will link some good ones if they're still available.

EDIT: I grabbed my AliExpress strap favourites from my bag o' straps and took some quick pics.

Brand names are pretty fluid in China but the P&P branded ones tend to be pretty decent.

The seller I linked to has some of these. Of course they all have the polyurethane ends, not leather, so they're less classy (but more vegan friendly) than the one I got today.

First bit of mail today (I’ll post the second one later after I finish an essay, when I have time to sort thru it all)…

Here’s one most of you are probably unfamiliar with, but it’s the two new reissues from GUM!

The first album, Delorean Highway, is one of my favorite psychedelic rock albums of all time. Released by Jay Watson (of Tame Impala and Pond fame) in 2014 under the moniker of GUM, delorean Highway is an amazing blend of psychedelic rock, prog, and power pop. I missed out on the initial pressing of this album back in 2014 because it was only available from Australia, and I was too broke as a 15 year old to afford the transcontinental shipping— it sold out quick and quickly skyrocketed in price on the used market. This new pressing is the first time it’s being reissued since then, and it’s been remastered by Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker. Standout tracks are “Growing Up”, “21st Century Radiation”, and a wonderful cover of Genesis’ “Misunderstanding”

The second album is the new Kevin Parker remaster of GUM’s 2015 sophomore release, Glamorous Damage, which takes the lofi elements of Delorean Highway, and trades then in for tons and tons of fat monosynth riffs. I have a first pressing of this one that I preordered way back when, but the value of that one has skyrocketed to a point where I’m barely comfortable playing it anymore, so this fantastic remastered reissue will serve as the one that goes on the turntable. Standout Tracks are “Notorious Gold”, “Anesthetized Lesson”, and “R.Y.K”

I’ll drop links for y’all to check them out. Don’t sleep on it!

I have no restraint, so I opened the other package from the mail already. LoveMySwitches coming through!

What’s there?
  • Some Neutrik style mono jacks
  • Big Chunker knob!!!!
  • 3 mini oxblood legit daka-ware/davies knobs
  • A little dark silver knob
  • Some neve style knobs
  • A silver plastic 1510 style knob
  • A bunch of big-bat toggle switches
  • A pair of black footswitches and black footswitch dress nuts for the two blackout builds I have planned.
  • Some insulated Neutrik style TRS jacks for expression ports
  • 4 sp12t rotary switches
  • A big ol rubbery knob
I’d be starting on my FV-1 dev board now, but I forgot all about the 12Mhz crystal for the USB bus ic

Someday I'll find the perfect build for my LMS full moon knob
This is actually one that I ordered from a Japanese hifi parts seller on eBay a while back- at 44mm diameter, it’s the biggest aluminum knob I could find that had identically matching smaller knobs for a very special build I’ve had in the world for a while now. I just need to finish up enclosure design so I can get it printed up, but it’s a wild one

65mA .... quaverato is in the mid 50s (fluctuates with the oscillator) with a rush when the relay switching happens

More Mail! (Apparently)

Forgot I ordered this since it was a while coming from the UK, but it’s a mint pickguard for a Squier mini Strat that I’m going to do… something to.

Thinking of refinishing in Sonic blue and leaving it at that, but I’ve also debated doing a mini version of George Harrison’s Rocky Strat. Either way, the aged mint is the way to go. When it’s all done, I’ll be stringing it up with some extra light strings and tuning it to G#, or if I can pull it off, A, for some fun pseudo- alto guitar action.
