If you were going to organize germanium transistors by specs instead of part # how would you?

Whether it's certain hfe range, leakage, or a combo of both? Obviously PNP vs NPN.
I'd imagine you'd want to do it by common hfe ranges for vintage fuzzes, then maybe sub organize by leakage?

I separate them in different bags by decade. I also put a little tag on each one with the hfe and leakage written on them.

This is what I do. Each one has a unique # referenced in my component spreadsheet. But I only have 90 or so

I sort mine by part #. I audition them on a breadboard or maybe a socket on a PCB. I usually don't see all that much spread in HFE or leakage for a specific part number, but there are notable exceptions. Most of my AC127s are very leaky. Most of my PNPs and 2N1308s are low leakage. I have a tone of 2N1308s and 2N1309s. There is a 5:1 HFE range on those, so the high HFE ones get a color-coded dot on top. At the end of it all, I have to audition them because it's hard to predict which ones will sound the best. Some circuits are pretty forgiving. Others require just the right HFE or leakage. I plan on having to tweak a resistor or two to get it dialed-in. Building with Germanium is far from a plug-n-play process.

I think I've got maybe 5 or 600 same as @Betty Wont I bundle together all the ones that I use as diodes only labelling fwd voltage on those higher or lower than 0.3 V ish
