What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

My first order of Amplifyfun faceplates arrived today. Very exciting, and the all look stellar, but unfortunately the big one I did for my FV-1 development box is too big… my bad; got the scaling way off. Now I’ll have to save that faceplate for when I can eventually find an enclosure that’s like 5% bigger than an XX and just make a second FV-1 dev box, and just redesign the faceplate design to fit my currently drilled enclosure and order that one soon.

First two builds with some of the Amplifyfun faceplates should be done in December since I have multiple school things to work on for all of November, but I may be able to get one done over thanksgiving break

Late but most worthy arrival!

Powersound
Black Olive Salad (Crystal Lettuce Black)
Argentium 1212
ROG 22/7
Adapter boards for @MichaelW 's world's tiniest thingies....er op amps. I'll have to dust off the EZ-Bake.

[drum roll]

I scored a sticker!

Might as well put a call out for this— if anyone knows of an enclosure that measures roughly 5x6x2.2” let me know! Nothing in the 1590 or 1550 line that are bigger than the 1590X’s 4.7x5.7x2.2 without being *considerably* larger.

Hmm, looks like that could definitely work if I grind down the ribbed slots and the majority of the length of the middle mounting screw posts. Thanks for the info! I’ve used the BUD stuff before, but only knew about their folded steel enclosures; didn’t know they had cast aluminum stuff too! 🤩

Nick, have you tried 152.4mm x 127mm x 55.88mm ?
Also define "significantly larger" 1550E isn't much of a stretch whereas a 1550G is too much, IMO.

1550E 1550EBK 1550WE 1550WEBK 6.73 4.76 2.01 171 121 51
1550G 1550GBK 1550WG 1550WGBK 8.74 5.75 2.01 222 146 51

10 Degrees slope 1456FE1WHBU 1456FE1BKBU 1456FE1BKBK 6.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 165 x 140 x 64/38

R190-130-000 130x160x70
R190-150-000 150x180x60

THIS ONE’S A GOOD SIZE/HEIGHT for combos: 6.5 x 6.5 x 2” (165x165x51)

Pasted Graphic 6.tiff

  • Body Size: width 6.5"/ 165mm, height 1.1"/ 28mm (front), 2"/ 52mm (rear)

More like "Michael's Folly". What Fig is referring to for context here.....

Looks like @Robert whipped up some adapters.....
Indeed, thank you Robert!

Today we have another Bell & Howell. This one is in much better shape...three 6v6s, two 12AX7s, and a 5yG3T rectum-fire . Not much to do, other than inspect the guts, clean, and replace the power port. :D I'll try to log all of these on the "Stuff" thread.

Oh, and I'll need to futz with the input stage from mic to pup.
