Try doing some weird shit like adding some distortion, dropping it an octave or two, and adding some heavy reverb. You can make it sound like a bomb going off. Great for weird ambient sounds.

First thing I did was throw on a digital delay and a huge wet reverb….

Years ago when I used to work in a music store we got a shipment of the then brand new samplers. So I plugged one in, got a trombone out of the cabinet and sampled myself playing a note (badly!) on the trombone. Playing that an octave or two lower was quite an experience. I wonder why talk of farts reminded me of it?
