Any new concerts you're looking forward to (formerly 2023 concerts)

Ween has been my favorite band since sometime in 1990. But I cannot pay to see the reunion era shows anymore. Same setlist, same low energy, same festival heads and glowstick babies... ...same stupid fucking Motorhead cover for a closer.....
I miss the Moistboyz.
Have you been paying attention to the past few years? Far from low energy, massive setlist variations (they’re averaging around 200 distinct songs per year. Last year’s port Chester run was well over 100 songs including a ton of lesser-played tunes), and they’ve been breaking out a ton of deep cuts and stuff that hasn’t been played in 20-30 years. Out of the 6 reunion shows I’ve been to so far, they haven’t done the Motörhead cover once. The festival heads, balloon suckers, violent rail riders, and wooks definitely suck, but the shows themselves are incredible lately. Especially post-COVID.

Rumors of new Moistboyz stuff have been circulating too

I guess the last Ween show (2 nights) I saw was, WOW, way back in 2018. yikes. I guess I need to see what's up then. I remember being icked out by Deaner's solo records back then and they've just been sitting on my grumble list. I swear I had Ace of Spades come up the last 3 shows. And what's up with Enter Sandman? are they trolling with that or what?

Wolves in the throne room, Yob/Khemmis/elder, northwest terror fest, Armstrong metal fest (playing it), would love to see Ween so hopefully they do another 3 night run somewhere west coast adjacent after the summer tour wraps up.

Which Ween show(s) are you hitting?
I won't be following them around or anything. They are just doing one night in August in KC (August 4th?) . I have heard tale of their live shows, so I am excited to see what the hype is about.

They sorta sit in the basket of bands that i refer to as "Clown Music". It's not bad... it just sorta sounds like goofy licks and cheesy melodies.

I’m kind of a concert noob. Just don’t go to a ton typically. But my wife and I went to a fun show last night… not sure if any of you will have heard of them, but a band called Gable Price and Friends. I think they have a really fun sound and both the guitarists are kinda gear nerds with some great tones. But… like I said: concert noob. The venue was a small bar and I desperately could’ve used some earplugs or something. My Apple Watch meter (which I think is actually fairly accurate) was reading a consistent 105dB and peaking at 110+. Most shows I’ve been to have been big stadium events where you’re 300 feet away from any sound source so it’s whatever. Different experience when you’re in a bar the size of a Wendy’s dining room and 15 feet from the stage.

Really did sound great and they put on a really great show but we ended up bailing out early cuz it got to be downright painful. I feel old…. 😂

The opening act was called Tidal Volume. I’d never heard of them but they were a lot of fun too. Would recommend both

I haven't actually been to a real concert in ages... My all time favorite band (Rush) will obviously never tour again... I'll probably end up and going to see some of local bands that my friends at the guitar store are in this year if I see anything...

I'm super stoked to see Deerhoof next month. But most shows are gonna be what my 14yo and I can agree on, and my wife too in the case of Molchat Doma.
I'm totally out of practice with getting tickets before they're sold out, or I'd be up in the pit with the kiddo at Death Grips. As it is, I'm desperately trying to find a prior commitment that rules out... Alestorm.

List of bands I've seen Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Supertramp, Elton John, The Eagles, California Jam I, David Gilmour when the battle for the Pink Floyd name was on, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, and about a dozen I've forgotten about, Oh ZZ Top, yeah the list goes on and on. Last concert I went to was around 2000-ish..... Can't remember if I actually went to a KISS concert or if that was a dream, lol...

edited: Pat Benetar, Blue Oyster Cult.... I'll think of more later.... It's time for breakfast...............

edited: I did go to a KISS concert, not a dream. And Bad Company too. Great performance. New Riders of the Purple Sage, Don Henley (solo), shook Joe Walsh's hand at that concert. umm.... STYX... meh, they were ok. Jackson Brown (he actually asked my sister to date him before he was famous, she was *totally hot* and declined, lol), Dan Fogelberg (who died of prostate cancer the week after I was diagnosed positive with prostate cancer - scary), Aerosmith, America, The Cars, DEVO, the B52's, The Who, David Bowie, The Doobie Brothers (one of the backup singers was totally coming on to me, my girlfriend got all pissed off and said "go for it", but I declined and married her instead - my girlfriend not the backup singer), Journey, Marshall Tucker band, Souther - Hillman and Furay, The Allman Bros., The Police, Bob Seger, The Moody Blues, Ten Years After, Rod Stuart, Thin Lizzy (I knew the cousin of one of the members and went to the backstage party), THE WALL front and center ROW 14, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Todd Rundgren, Montrose and alas several tickets were completely unreadable so perhaps I'll never remember completely, but I know I'm missing someone. Never saw the Stones or the Beatles, or Steely Dan. Drats!

EDIT 3 - Dire Straights.... well duh....

Blues Image, they played at my High School in Sylmar CA.

The Descendents are playing in Indy this summer, and hopefully the Cure out in Colorado.

The last few shows I wanted to see skipped Indy entirely. The closest spots were St Louis, Louisville, and Cincinatti. I'm like right in the middle where nothing goes, but I can get to a show if I make a two hour drive. It sucks, but it could be worse. Nobody goes to Montana.

I got:
- Frank Turner and the Interrupters in about 2 weeks
- Frank Turner's 4-day Lost Evenings in Anaheim, CA in September
- The Flogging Molly cruise in November

Then probably:
- X and Squirrel Nut Zippers in June
- Gogol Bordello in August

I'm pretty spoiled living an hour from Red Rocks and some other amazing venues here in Colorado....that said I don't really pay for shows anymore. I shoot for the Jumbotron so I usually have a front row seat AND a paycheck.

Might hit this up, edgefield is a good time though their beer suuucks. Had my wedding reception there. What was once the "poor farm" where people could go work for room and board like a hundred years ago. It's now a hotel/spa/venue/brewery/vineyard/tiny golf course with a few tiny bars dotted throughout.

When we were getting ready for my reception you could hear Michael Frante sound check and rehearse on the other side of the property.

Terrible.

🤯 Just realized Conan is touring. Evidently their last show is Northwest Terror Fest, which has been a publicity shitshow. But if the bill is to be believed, they're on the same day as YOB, which, worth the trouble. 🤘
