Have I mentioned I hate ordering pots from tayda…View attachment 51210
I’ve gotten good at cutting those long legs down and keeping the skinny part—and will still order them if I can’t get the taper/resistance I need in the short leg variety—but, more than anything, I’ve just gotten a LOT more carefull to look at the pictures, to make sure their not these!

I love mystery boxes.

Most recently got one from Moonn, and then Electronic Goldmine before that;

EG wasn't too hot (got a couple different ones including tubes...)

Moonn hasn't arrived yet, hope it does today as I was going to order some more during the sale — whatever I wanted but didn't get in the mystery box.

I saw previously I should get a BLMS Mystery Box, now Nick's order is pushing me right to the edge.

I ordered this enclosure for my first commissioned pedal and this is what Musikding sends me. WTF:

I also got two 1590BB boxes in the same order but those are ok. What gives? What do I do now?

EDIT: the box also has huge build ups of paint on the front but was listed as premium. So not only did they not paint the bottom plate, they did an awful job all around.

Call them, if they don't offer to compensate, go online with your credit card and issue a dispute for items received not as described. Provide copy of description and pictures of flaws!!!!

I'll contact them, I know they'll do right by me. It just sucks cause my friend's been waiting for his Fuzz Face and I can't build it in this botched enclosure.

Funny thing is this enclosure was described as premium, the other two are economy and they are perfect :)

So these finally arrived. The quoted 10-12 day turnaround became 8 weeks.
I don't mind the 8 weeks so much as the total radio silence despite numerous attempts to contact by email, Reverb and phone.

If he would have just shot me a quick note saying "Hey we're behind, it's going to be a bit longer" I would have been totally fine.
But only after opening a PayPal dispute, he chirps up.

I don't believe I'll be buying anymore pickups from him. Curiously, his 100% positive Feedback on Reverb all ends in March, nothing since.

Having said that, these are supposed to be killer pickups, we'll see.

The Pink Tone Set - a David Gilmour tribute set. 50's style neck, 60's style middle and a screamer of a bridge pickup at 12k.
These will be going into my "in progress" black strat

The Firebird Vintage Set - according to the description these are true Firebird construction pickups with the all important "reflector plate" that is unique to Bird pickups. I don't have a guitar for these to go into.....(yet).....so I guess I'll just admire and fondle them until I do.... :ROFLMAO:

We're all looking forward to your next purchase. You don't happen to own a Firebird, do you?

EDIT: This post aged well.

I love the long leg pots! I use them as-is. There is still enough room to fit the lid on a 125b if you don’t go crazy with tall electros.

I’ll also specifically use them if I want to space the board mounted pots a bit. For that, I typically heat shrink the legs, so I don’t have to be concerned about where they might flex.

"Golly gee whiz, Wally, those two itty-bitty Windery 'bird pickups sure would look real swell in a '66-style non-reverse Firebird, and how!"

Leave it to Beaver to tell it like it is...

No comment.......
The current production Epiphone Firebird is the real McCoy. Correct neck through design and pickups, CTS pots etc. I've been gassing HARD but the ergonomics - sure to be a neck diver - deter me.
Since Firebirds are described as Teles on steroids, I don't suppose you could install these pickups in one of your Teles?
Unless you already bought a 'Bird...
...but of course feel free to just sit in a corner and fondle the pickups...no kink shaming :)

I'd be interested in one of those at US prices, by the time they get the Australian markup they're considerably less attractive. AU price converts to US$850 - 900-ish. Plus I have too much stuff and need to divest, so it's all fantasy anyway...
