Grieving

I havent visited the forums for a couple of months and during that time, I (we, my wife and I), had to put down my (our) beloved companion Fonzi. I have him in my avatar picture and it breaks my heart.
This may not be the best place to post such things, but this group has been very supportive and positive since joining.
Many of us have furry loved ones and you know how deeply special they are in your lives.
My boy has been with me through the most trying of times. I loved him more than most people. He was so very special.

Such a handsome guy! There's no doubt that you gave him a great life and that he experienced all that life could offer him, through you and your family. Condolences to you all, and I hope that you guys find peace in knowing that he knows how much you love him and he's running (and most likely) chewing the shit out of some toys on the other side.

Ah fuck that’s a heartbreaker. I am so so sorry you had to put him down. This month is 5 years since we had to put our (my) girl down. To paraphrase another saying, I don’t want another dog, I just want that last one again. I feel for you. Hang in there and be kind to yourself.

Sincere condolences.

We've been there, too, and know it's never easy to let a family member go.

I found it does help to post here, lightened the load; so thank you for being strong enough to share here and I hope it helps in some way.

So sorry for your loss. I had to do the same to my two boys about a year ago. Both in quick succession too. Like you they were there through all the ups and downs of the 16 years they were with me. And they were always the best of friends to me. Solid and steady and always there with a wag of their tail.
Just having them with me always made life so much better.
Remember the good times. They will always be with you.
