More rainy day projects. The Gold Gerät is a freebie. There's no mention of it on his site. I felt silly searching Google for Baron Von Wilhelmshaven FX for which I was awarded no information. Any guesses on what it is are welcome. 2 gains and a volume? No toan? I'm just happy the values are printed on the pcb.

Worth it.
I have 2 busted PACEs from work that I tried to hobble together a working unit from, to no avail.

I had a bunch of Ac107 germanium transistors arrive this afternoon. A quick sample of gains and leakage looks really promising.

Fingers crossed they sound good but if there's one thing I've learned from the Internet is that you can't have a magic transistor without a red dot.

How much did that set you back?

Brand new ones go for $400 or so, this is a "refurb" so it was only $150. Some refurbs are $25 or so, but every cheap refurb I've tried has been poorly done and has clogged nozzles and failing seals.

I know more about the inner workings of this stupid thing than I ever wanted to

So far just a jazzmaster sized j bass bridge pickup which is still in the box but I intend to build several instruments around their pickups. Considering replacing the gfs dream 90s in my baritone with some of his gold foils.

Honestly every single pickup I've had from Marc has been stellar and I've had a lot. He also loves building little known pickups that no one else makes.

Yeah, I'm not obsessed with Ry Cooder but I'm kind of obsessed with the pickup set. And a bunch of the other ones. His shop is basically porno for unusual pickup geeks.

VELCRO "Hook and Loop" polishing pad..... There's also non-woven pads with diamond dust in different grits, again the key search phrase is hook and loop, don't put that in and all you get is everything else......
