Your current game play-through

OK can you guys explain to me what you like about Fortnite? I could never get into it and I suspect I am just doing it wrong.
it's a lot to soak in with building.. but yeah.. its a ton of fun once you learn the basics of build fighting... after learn to do simple builds editing builds gets you to the next level... building is for offensive play as well as defensive play

A Discord friend talked me (it didn't take that much convincing tbh) into starting Jagged Alliance 3 as co-op, and to be honest I have been enjoying it quite a bit. I played a bunch of Jagged Alliance 2 (and Wildfire) way back when, but never finished either one. However, it does feel like JA3 has kept faithful to the spirit of the earlier games. And it seems quite well built in general, although we're still in the early game.

On a second play-through of Metal Gear Solid V. What a game! One of the most fun and least coherent.

I'm now really tempted to get the MGS1-3 collection for PS5, but I'm worried I'll rage quit at the now counterintuitive PS1 controls.

My 10 year old started playing Fortnite the other week. I've looked for videos on how to play, but they're all way over my head and seem complicated. Anyone have a link so I can help her with her questions and get the gist of it? It's a lot more than I remember seeing a couple years ago.

FWIW I've never played Fortnite and don't really have much interest in the competitive side, but I did fire up the free Lego thing (Minecraft style) which seemed decently fun.

We pinched pennies all year long due to lots of unexpected expenses, but I got a little money for my birthday and was ordered to actually spend it on myself, haha. So, I finally was able to get some upgrades for my 2016 PC build.

16GB 2400 DDR4 to 32GB 3200 DDR4
500GB SSD to 2TB M.2
GTX 970 to RTX 3060 (best I could afford)

So, a fresh install of Windows is due. Then, some more gaming in 2024. Now my box should last until Windows 10 is no longer an option, however long that is.

Nothing really wrong with the 3060. Heck, my son is still Fortnite-ing with his friends on a KO EVGA2060. You're gonna be blown away by the step up.

Just started playing Elder Scrolls:eek:blivion again. I tried to go back and play daggerfall cuz it’s free but I couldn’t get out of the training dungeon haha

Edit: haha I don’t know how that emoji got in there but it works haha

I always wanted to put together a nice gaming computer but never got around to doing it. I only wanted a gaming pc to play elder scrolls stuff haha

I just re-played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PS1. Still pretty good for >20 years old.
Definitely one of top 3 favorites of all time. I have re-played Symphony of the night more than any other game. Sooo many cool levels. And the soundtrack is killer too. I might have to give that one another go soon.

Are graphics cards available again?

Some people are building desktop computers as a hobby and side-hustle, just like we build stompboxes.

Buying second-hand seems like the best approach, in my experience.

As long as you know a little bit about computers, it's quite safe and easy to check if everything is ok, as described in the offer. I went to the seller's appartment, and didn't give him any money until i was sure it was real.

In order to play some video games made in the last 10 years, i spent 600 euros last month to change my pc.

It was a significant upgrade, with lots of Ram memory, some CPU and GPU designed recently, an Nvidia rtx 3050 (made in 2022 !) that looks almost as big as the computer. These kind of "gaming computers" with similar specs, costs around 1500 euros brand new. I made sure it was built recently (august 2023) to avoid any troubles from old parts. There are so many offers on the used market that we can easily find something interesting. Some negociation skills can even allow a buyer to lower the price, but you have to be smooth and convincing...

Some sellers are ruthless and very sharp :

- "can you lower the price down, even just a tiny little bit, please ? 550 instead of 600 ? that's all the money i have available right now. Besides, this graphic card has lots of bad reviews, not calibrated for ultra HD 8k, etc... and your hard-disk is only a mere 200 gB, what can we do these days, in 2023, with 200 gB ? Despite all these issues, i am still very excited. Let's say 550, and i'll quickly take it off your hands ?"

- "sorry, no. And you'd better hurry because i already have three or four other buyers very interested in this offer. i am talking to them right now, as we speak. Are you sure you can't find 50 euros somewhere ?"

I couldn't lower the price, but it's quite a change from the old computer with some Geforce 650 i used for years...

I installed lots of beautiful games, cyberpunk 2077, metro exodus, elden ring, the last of us, far cry 5, etc. but i mostly play tekken 7 online via Steam... I like the possibility to play just for a little while and still achieve something in the game, winning against spanish, deutch, italian, russian, english players, all for the glory of our good old Republic. It also reminds me of my youth, and all these hours spent on tekken 2 and 3. Feels like this time investment is finally paying off, some characters and many nice moves are still there.

Glory to Ling Xiao Yu and her art of the phoenix ! Nothing can stop Ling !
