You asked for it ... so here we go

Collective Soul immediately makes me think of Pat Finnerty who brings me much happiness.

"Yeyah!"

I spent a lot of time at my best friends house in jr high and hs, really only going home to sleep. I must have been in 8th or 9th grade when that album came out and Shine was one of those songs that you just couldn't get away from.

My friend's parents were renting the back of their house to his cousin, who was in his mid 20's and he had that song in repeat day after day after day. Then we'd go to the mall and it'd be there. And at the movie theater, and at the coffee shop. My god it was awful but now I love it.

I do love how those things I hated way back when (out of sheer teenage spite and angst) have morphed into really lovely memories of "the good ol days." I love that song now for the same reason I love Hootie and John Hiatt and all that other stuff: it instantly transports me back in time to lots of good memories.

There's some stuff from the 90s that at the time was just kind of "there" and I didn't have an opinion on one way or another, that once I revisited in recent years I came to really enjoy. Mainly Wildflowers and Tuesday Night Music Club

I was obsessed with Wildflowers when I was in jr high. It's Good to be King was my favorite from th album. It still holds up.
