What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Tractor update for @Erik S: I did it! I got the PTO clutch off, and didn't bugger the bearing underneath. I even tapped out the holes that I drilled the set screws out of and didn't bugger the threads. I broke a tap IN the hole and still didn't fuck it up. I just need new thrust buttons, spring, set screws, and to clean the fuck out of everything from all the overflowed cutting oil. Once the PTO clutch is squared away, I'm gonna pull the head and get to work on the engine. Spring is coming

That’s a weird tremolo.

I'm stealing "thrust buttons" for a song title.

I pushed the envelope back with my John Deere 318 (before they were garbage) and later my Dixie Chopper zero turn. I miss both of them. I was never down to the brass tacks you're dealing with here but I kept them running. Back then I cut 5-1/4 acres so it was kinda important that the machine was in tip top form.

Nice work! Takes patience and persistence to come out of a job like that without making a mess of it.

Abominable Electronics Oppressive Cult Destroyer

Basically an OCD with voltage doubler, a bass boost toggle before clipping and a diode switch option. No sound in bypass. The wiggle everythng method yielded no results. Voltages looked good except for I wasn't getting output on 1 so assumed the opamp might be kaput (not socketed.) I should have checked Vb as after that did not do the trick, I did, and it wasnt 1/2 of supply. DOH! Looks like the clipping section is attached to Vb so I am thinking one of the 2n7000 has gone awry. Power supply filter cap checked out. 20240315_085128.jpg

Technically all off the bench, but I haven't shown off any sweet white ink on matte black sand in a while, and I don't feel like making a bunch of build reports -

  • Cepheid w/ Speed range, Vibrato, and Delay time toggles
  • Lumitron w/ lower tuned filters
  • Prismatic
  • Lead Solder OD
  • Sunstone w/ Univibe cap values
  • Pepperbox
  • Polar Cap

  • Sea Horse w/ delay time and shape tweaks
  • Awful Waffle w/ comp cap, LM709, and brighter
  • Nutty Fuzz w/filter cap toggle
  • Proletarian
  • Pacifier w/ more lowend and asymmetrical clipping on both sides. Fuzz side modded to Os Mutantes spec
  • Low Tide mini

It took me some time to get to it. So there was a lot of part hoarding in the meantime. I am still missing one capacitor (bad value in the Musikding kit) and a few potentiometers that are on the way. Texel and Derailer are side projects for now. I was using them as a dump to fill it with leftover parts. :D

Can I post random stuff? These are both a lot rustier than the eBay pictures lead me to believe. But still probably worth the £15

Rusty inside also. The SRT101 has a dead meter and is the worse of the two.

The SRT100x was operating a lot smoother after about 100 actuations of the shutter (mirror still locks up about half the time on slow shutter speeds). Also the elaborate string and pulley contraption that tells the light meter what the film speed / shutter speed / aperture are set at was derailed.

Found out the issue is a broken plate spring under the pulleys, but not before restringing it. I think next step is salvage the spring out of the SRT101 and cobble together one fully functional camera from the two.

Lenses also both full of fungus on what looks like all elements, so they will require full disassembly and cleaning (and also ideally reassembly).

Trying to throw together a one piece pine body together I cut out at work a while back…. going for the ratty look since this was the first one I ran to prototype back then.. Found it amongst some other projects I forgot about.. my bridge holes and neck pocket were a bit sloppy so I’m trying to make it all work with stuff I have lying around..

Preliminary results are in and I think I saved this VCR. I'll have to test it tomorrow because all my tapes are in the hall closet and if I open the door, the dog will bark and then it will wake up my wife and baby and we'll all have a bad time. But it immediately powered up, which it did not do before, and all the controls respond
