What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Just the roof, trim, door and window left and the storage shed for my girlfriend is done. I can finally get all the stuff out of the garage and start building it into a rad office/workshop. Don’t look too close. Despite being a pretty good woodworker I am somehow a terrible carpenter. I think I bent almost as many nails as I drove.

Storage shed for your girlfriend? Is that where you’re going to keep her?? 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll see myself out.

Can procure them pretty cheap at pawn shops. Think unpaid $40-50 for my framer
You'll need something bigger than a pancake compressor though. If your comp isn't stout enough, a third will be perfect, a third will stick out an inch and a third will bury themselves an inch deep.

I was thinking I might try a battery powered one. I feel like I might be more likely to use it often. I have Milwaukee and Dewalt batteries already.

Soldered my first SMD JFETs! I didn't have any solder paste so I put some flux on the pads first and hit it with just a dab of solder. Seems to have gone well!

I usually (read it here on the forums) put solder on the middle tab, then place the JFET on top of it and heat it so it stays put, and then do the other two legs. Might need to hold it with tweezers while doing it, but it's pretty easy as long as you go slow. The most annoying part is probably taking the JFET out of the package and getting it the right way around. I've also had them sometimes launch from the tweezers and fly to freedom, never to be seen again.

Then again, your result looks much nicer than mine, so who am I to say anything 😅

I got a plunge router base for my router. It has changed everything. Feels way safer. Definitely more efficient than having to manually reset the depth with the standard base. I've got a bit of jank to clean up with a spindle sander on body #2 (left) plus some cavity routing. I'm thinking this one will be a cabronita tele with filtertrons. Body #1 needs a neck pocket and some sanding. Then it's on to building at least one neck. I completely botched my last try so hoping for better luck this time. Despite the unreasonable amount of sanding finishing requires, I really like the process of staining wood, so even if the neck building goes poorly I'm looking forward to that.

Maybe when I'm done I'll dig into my pedal backlog.

Those look great! highly recommend Guitar madness on eBay for filtertrons, just know they're direct mounted with screws. But yeah I go through phases of building guitars, then pedals, then back when I get the itch. I love the process of guitar building, even when it takes me a month or 2, the end result is always satisfying
