What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Got a surprise on my porch this morning from @MichaelW he recommended this for fretboards when we were discussing what we use to hydrate and condition them.

I truly appreciate this and took the opportunity to try it out. My 335 was in need of a deep cleaning and new strings. Really liked how it made the board feel. Thanks Mike 🙏

Good stuff! I frequently use that as a finish in general for woodworking projects. One of my favorite products

I didn’t know Fryette ever made a pedal. Looked it up and it looks rad. I’d definitely build one if you were ever to put out a board for it!
Yeah I had never heard of it until this guy told me about it. It's well made, but it still didn't cost much used, so I don't think they did very well. I had planned to trace it as a potential C2C project, but now that I know what it is I have to decide if it's worth doing a project out of. It's literally a slightly modified Rat with an EF86 output stage instead of the JFET output buffer. You know, kind of like Lab Rat but with a different tube.

That being said the trace didn't take very long so I can put it back together and actually plug it in now.

Ah, well I already have a Lab Rat board in my backlog, so that definitely feels like this would be redundant!

How much of a difference does the EF86 make, I’d imagine not a ton? The tube itself in those circuits isn’t clipping at all, right? Or at least not in the Lab Rat?

A broken, orphaned Zoom Tri Metal hobbled its way from New Jersey to my mailbox.
Seller said it had a bad switch and a broken potentiometer.

Looking at the board, I think the switch just stuck with the really big button foot switch. It works when I hand press it directly in the board. The potentiometer should be doable, but the right angle dial pot might make it tough.
Cool thing about the Zoom pedals, they used really nice ALPS Japan potentiometers. Also, they have a weird mix of through hole and SMD.

The idea is that the Rat part of the circuit pushes the tube into clipping, so you are getting some tube drive. But after plugging in the SAS I'm not convinced it needs to be done. The EQ makes Lab Rat a lot more flexible, and I think the 12AX7 works very well so I don't feel the need to swap an EF86 in there.

Converting my Dojo Splitter to a Ric-O-Sound / Mag Piezo blender widget for bass. It'll have a new 3 way switch to enable standalone operation in either mode, or still both at the same time. It figures that out of all the many bass centric EQ pedals I had available this was the one the customer wanted! ;)
