What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

The fiducial recognizing camera is so it's easy to flip a board over and line up the bottom for machining, so it can do double-sided prototype boards very easily. You have to solder in vias yourself, but not the end of the world.
Well that sounds cool as hell.

I think a tip shape like that is next on my list.

I've had such rotten luck with non genuine tips for my hakko that I didn't mind shelling out for the real deal going forward.
Been there done that, I've got a drawer full of off brand tips for my Hakko that all suck. I just get the real thing about once a or twice a year.

I use a hoof tip with my Pinecil but I prefer the chisel tip. This one was supposed to have a groove that hugs the leads but alas it doesn't.
I also got a small chisel tip but it is a tad thick for PCBs.
I might just spring for a JBC tip if these don't work out.

Starting to put together a very modest pedalboard for my Dojo and acoustic guitar:

Now looking at the smallest possible power banks to run the Cioks off of. May be able to just run it of the Spark 2 amp's USB port though, with battery power for the Spark eventually. Most of my DIY pedals work best at 12 or 15 volts, but one prefers 9V, so this seemed like a pretty decent solution.

Scored a new iron on eBay for $70 🤘🏼
Finally replacing my beginner Weller.

This is my absolute number one recommendation to...pretty much anyone. Lol. I bought my Hakko probably a decade ago. I don't think there is a single thing that has improved my "quality of hobby-life" more than this. I don't even know that it has to be this specific model (I am sure nowadays there are plenty of viable competitors) but I will always tell people to "overspend" on a nice soldering iron/station. I have never met anyone who put up the cash for a nice iron and said "I wish I had saved my money, I could've got by just fine on my old iron okay"

Can't afford to spend that much for a station that is such old tech. I know it's solid but for 20 bucks I bought a Pinecil that has been working great on boards for 3 years on the same tip.
Now I've switched to another pencil iron that uses 245 tips and it's even better.
If I was a pro I'd splurge on a JCB or Metcal station.

Same here. Couldn’t pass it up at 70 bucks. Little by little !

Anyone ever played with one of these?

No time/energy tonight, or probably for a few days. But it looks pretty cool. Can get THD , noise and freq response measurements and a lot more. The end of the spring semester seems to be the time to snatch these of eBay.
