Camera question

@Robert Is this just(mostly) to snap photos of pcbs?
Or for OnlyHands?
Or...
If it's PCBs. Seems like a macro lens on a boom arm would suffice well

I can second the suggestion for something like the Panansonic Lumix mirroless line. Small, great quality, will fulfill any use case basically.

@Robert - A fancy DSLR camera really sounds like overspending, did you search for webcams with optical zoom lenses?
I didn't realize how far "webcams" have come over the years, it's entirely possible something like that might work as long as it has optical zoom.

You aren't starting an OF account are you?🥴

Primarily for taking photos / videos of PCBs on the bench. Possibly some disassembly/reassembly clips, stuff like that.

Not looking to become an influencer, just thinking that I could document the process (and occasionally explain things) better if I had a fixed camera setup that was always ready to go.

Is there two different things here? Assembly could be something fairly basic overhead, and then close up is a mini booth with a macro lens set up and placing the pcb in the booth it’s already in focus?

Surely there is a way to overcomplicate this process that is already working perfectly fine with more expensive equipment I don't know how to use properly.
This resonated through my whole being….

I just invested a shitload of money into my setup and almost feel like it is starting over. New cameras, new interface, new computer, new program and no idea how to use any of it….
I’d suggest this:

Not because you need it, but because then maybe you can also trace it so I can build my own 😭
8200 for a camera!!! Holy shit!

@Robert not sure if this would work but the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a really great camera/webcam with its own gimble, add on a macro lens and you can see all the guts.

Right now they are like 700 at costco.

The DJI Osmo Pocket series is really good, had a number of sizzle reels filmed with them.

Don’t look at what the lenses cost! (That’s just the camera body)
My main camera for the youtoobz is a Canon SL3, I wanted a long zoom lens for capturing birds and almost shit at the price.

It makes buying pedal parts much more palatable.

"8200 for a camera!!! Holy shit!"

Back in time (about 30 years ago or more) I started my photography business and needed a 35mm camera outfit and a medium format outfit. I managed to avoid having to get a large format view camera thank goodness! To buy a very basic Hassleblad outfit was going to cost Aust$15000 but in NY it was around $10000 for what I wanted. So NY it was. The $5000 we saved paid for a month travelling around the US for my wife and me. The we spent two more months in Europe!

So I have some wonderful B+W prints on my walls from that time. I have a 1m x 1m print of 5th Ave taken from the Empire State building on the wall in my lounge. That Aust$10000 came from an inheritance and bought me a body, two lenses, a film back, polaroid back and a pentaprism viewfinder. Hasselblads are expensive. This was 30 years ago! But the pictures they can produce are as good as it gets. Not just sharp but with incredible colour rendition and beautiful contrast. And since digital I haven't used them! 'Blad digital stuff is way too expensive for me and I haven't actually needed it because the Canon DSLRs have been good enough for me to shoot billboards on. Not only has digital capture improved but digital output has revolutionised large format printing.
