Those look awesome, but what are they for? Is the spacing right to do this bend on a to-92?

I think they're 0.1 spacing so not perfect but good enough for close enough. They do have multiple lead formers for to92s and in general. A LOT of really cool, specific tools. But they're generally priced out of hobbyist prices.
Hakkos have the PTR series that are much more affordable but I haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet.

I like cool specialty tools. Even when they're not completely economical. So, I grabbed these Excelta 907-89B dog leg pliers.
They have a couple of models that will bend the leads 90° and shear the lead off just after the bend. Specifically designed to bend and trim component legs pre soldering. Super cool. Super niche. I'm keen to find some of those but new list on most of their stuff is $200-350. The 923e cutters a handful of us grabbed for 90 cents before the seller wised up and upped the price are $85 new!

I have an Excelta 907-4, and I'm not exactly sure why they're labeled as "transistor formers", when they cut rather than bend... Also, sad to have missed the gold rush on those cutters!

How's the warm up time on that? Seems like it's pretty quick considering how popular this brand is.

Brought the same station last year and it's awesome. Heats to 750°F in 15-20 secs and most importantly stays hot. Should have gotten it a long time ago.

Yeah. Those aren't formers....
Cut my cutters in. Bag was split open but they were all there.
Aside from the transport wear(loose in a manila envelope), they look new. All the edges are sharp!

Not bad, but they were just put in there with just the envelope padding


This was the "worst" one.


Still cuts through wires and leads like butter. Three cheers for jwin spotting this deal!

Oh yeah, he must have wound up with a trashbag full somehow! Sounds like they're legit, right @jessenator? He mostly sells lab testing equipment, so I think he just wanted to move these "smaller items" quickly. No clue!

Have not timed it but definitely sub 20 seconds. It’s like light speed compared to my old standby.

Got my Excelta clipper lot today too. Big up @jwin615 indeed. Mine arrived loose in their mailer as well, and as you can see one has a bunch of scrapes on the handle. On the other hand, tho, I ordered 6 and received 7, sooo no complaints

I feel you. For the last 2 years I’ve been really unsatisfied with their services and I’ve been trying to avoid buying from them. Lots of DOA potentiometers, enclosures with flaky paintings, fake opamps, long packing times. It’s a real shame, I’ve been buying from tayda since they were an eBay store.
