What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

I repair them, fully disassemble and clean electronically and cosmetically, service, calibrate them, test everything and record a song on each one, then sell on Reverb. They go from this
To this. And the same performance as new once they're calibrated
And then....?
Worded another way, how does one procure a HK QCed porta studio?

I was wondering if that was the case. I have a couple portastudios that need some TLC, but I would want them back. I’m guessing the ROI doesn’t make sense for servicing.

Got this care package in the mail today from an old friend who’s in the process of downsizing his studio.

Time to tear down the racks again.

NIce! You have most excellent friends. I have been eyeballing the same patchbay because I am tired of taking apart the rack stuff and redoing the hookups. But I need to chill before I buy anymore stuff. or maybe I just buy the patchbay and then chilll hahaha

I do have some great friends!

That S-patch is the coolest one, but I also have a rusty old neutrik that hasn’t given me any trouble. If you’re not worried about switching normal/ half normal/ through on the fly, you could definitely spend less. And then you get to go broke buying cables anyway…

I spent all day today squatting under my desk trying to keep this all straight. It’s 99% there, but of course I need to buy a couple more cables. 🤦‍♂️

A little bit of a impulse buy. I have been thinking about putting together a aluminum neck SG. In the mean time I got the itch for a guitar tuned like Keith Richard's opening tuning but dropped down to like C on the low string. I really miss that tuning but I'm pretty happy with all the setups I have going at the moment. I also was thinking I'd buy cheapish and set it up with 3 or 4 strings, like a caveman devil blues machine. I narrowed to a Gretsch Double Jet and I thought I'd see what was in the same price range. This LTD Viper jumped out immediately. I love Olympic White, in face that is what I was thinking for the aluminum neck build. I bought from Sweetwater because I figured at this price point that Sweetwater inspection is a good idea.

First impressions are WOW. I wasn't expecting much at this price point but the fit and finish on this guitar is fantastic, better than the last USA Les Paul I owned. Hardware and electronics were obviously better on the Les Paul but the build itself feels better. Not that the hardware is bad, the tuners are decent, just not locking. The pickups are better than I expected too. Way hotter than I am used to for a passive.

I also ordered a set of Hipshot locking tuners, a TP-6 bridge, and Graphtech TUSQ nut. The nut hasn't arrived yet but the rest has:

If it turns out as good as I hope I will buy a Fishman Fluence Classic set to put in here. I would defiantly buy a LTD again. I guess yay for CNC haha.

LTD is good stuff. I have an LP style gold top with DiMarzio Anniversary PAFs. It’s every bit as heavy as a Les Paul.
