What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

There are some awesome folks in this group… One of you guys reached out and sent me a little care package of some of the stuff I’m totally out of… Been strapped lately… Lost my job a few months ago and had to take a job back in the shop with a big pay cut.. Been treading water lately. I very much appreciated the kind words and gestures…. Spent the day today rewiring an old Kramer for one of the guys at church..and to the guy who sent me some premium parts… THANK YOU!

My keybed replacing steel bar came in...

But the coating doesn't end up being the powdercoating I expected when the site said "coated". Goddamnit. Cut to size, so no returns. This stupid coating was about 50,- more than regular stainless steel. And now I still need to get it into RAL 9005 black. x.JPG

This is for a keyboard? Have you been posting about this project? Maybe I missed it. Sounds interesting.

Yeah. This is about the P12 mod.... If I take off the keyboard and wheels, I have to deal with this weird protrusion where those slides on the left stick out a bit. This bar fills up that gap up to that point, This obvously leads to different problems due to the panel of the enclosure being at an angle... So that'll be more decisions to make along the way as to which way I prefer things to go. Maybe I go with a wood slat to cover it op, or I'll have the front of the enclosure not sit at a 90 degrees angle with the desk surface for a more different, less bulky look... I could even lift the top part of the enclosure up to make the angle less obvious.

Cheap thrills compared to some of you guys lol! I’ve read a lot positive thing about the Kobe TEN tubes and finally managed to snag a proper one and man I’m surprised. The Japan tubes continue to surprise me. Signal to noise ratio is unbelievable and sound is bold and neutral. Very similar to a Telefunken. An early Matsu-Mullard, also made in Japan, with the I60 Valvo style slanted O getter. These are just as good as the Mullards after rolling several. Last is a Gold Aero branded Tungsram. Excellent tube! I didn’t pay any more than a new production tube for any of these with patience and knowledge of whom you’re buying from IMG_3342.jpeg

I wondered about those TEN tubes. I was always under the impression they were rebrands.

@jwin615 It’s my understanding that they were made by Fujitsu. I believe Matsushita was Panasonic, NEC was Nippon and then you have Toshiba and Hitachi. I’ve been impressed with all of them and find them to be more of a hi-fi or neutral sounding tubes if that’s what you’re looking for. I’ve been on a MIJ tube kick as of late lol. I have a long gray plate triple mica Hitachi in the mail. I’ve never even seen a 3 mica long plate before that I can recall. Here’s a recent NEC I got. Very similar to the TEN though I haven’t rolled them next to each other.

I think you've gone and done it. Damn it. Interest piqued.
Any you've found good for dirt that clean up well? Think later stage preamp tubes.
I'm too deep into the MTS(pre Synergy modular) stuff. I'm struggling with the tubes for the just beyond edge of breakup tones.
