Let's See Your Amps

This was my rig the last time I played out, which was on new years eve 2019 going into 2020. The neck pickup on that guitar has a separate output signal from the bridge. The bridge pickup goes straight into the Laney and the neck goes through an octave down and a fuzz (Farm pedals mountain fuzz- it's a 10 transistor fuzz!) and then into the GK.

The Laney is a GH100TI Tony Iommi signature amp. It's the first one they made, not the current TI100. The GK is a first gen 400RB that I bought for about a hundred bucks on eBay almost 15 years ago. The ampeg cab is a 2x15 from the late 60s but the original speakers are long gone. The guitar is a 1986 bc rich bich NJ series with a DDJ Duncan distortion in the bridge that I bought when everyone still hated bc rich so it was dirt cheap. I should have snagged more of them

Oh, man. That Ampeg 2x15 is giving me the sweats. What kind of drivers did you put in there?

I don't remember what's in there. The speakers had already been changed when I got it. One has a carvin label on it and I don't remember what the other one is at all. My wife used that bass rig too with a green russian big muff I made for her in a band we played together in. The foam is necessary to keep the head from vibrating off, and the cab used to walk across the floor and hit our drummer at practice all the time

@peccary there's another shot of the ampeg along with my vt-22 at the bottom of page 3 in this thread too 😁

This is my latest build - It's a tweed Princeton style amp. Mojo chassis, Merc Magnetics transformers, Sozo & F&T caps... I can't afford to import Mojotone Cabs any more so bought a better router, a little Kreg router table and made myself a router jig to do 1/2" finger joints. The fella who I built this for wanted more of a Supro style cab so I made it parallel all way around and the baffle is attached with just four screws and two cleats - one at the top ad one at the bottom. So it should sound much like a tweed cab - the height and width are the correct tweed dimensions. The speaker is the Jensen P10R he pulled out of his BF Princeton RI. It actually suits the amp better than expected.

He also wanted a fairly rustic stained finish. The pic actually makes the finish look better than it really is and he loves it. So I'm delighted. It's obviously not a loud amp being single ended with one 6V6 power tube but it does fill the room. When cranked it has a kind of Jimmy Page cranked Marshall vibe to it. It's basically a Champ with a 10" speaker and a tone control.

My silver stripe bandit 112 that was getting a custom mahogany rehousing has been finished. Thanks to ADAOCE Sr.

i have pictures from the build too I’ll post a build report at some point probably

Bandit, nice! I got a special 130 that sounds killer! May have to look into rehousing it like you did.

Awesome! I love my bandit I think it easily deserved a makeover. Get a decent dovetail jig and router to make the box. Unless you want to do it by hand but good lord …

That Bandit cab is gorgeous! What a great idea - Peavey cabs are so ugly but the amps are often pretty decent sounding. The Peavey logo is one of the ugliest in the business. Apparently Hartley Peavey drew it when he was at high school. Ya know, there is a reason there are graphic designers...

Does it sound any different in its new home?
