    Strat Wiring Schematic

Actually, I’m a little confused now… I’ve always soldered the last tab (lug 1) to the case on the volume pot to ground it, and see this as the standard. This is in line with the posted schematic, which shows the volume pot wired as a voltage divider. However, in a guitar I’m currently replacing...

This is great - exactly what I was looking for - thanks!

    Strat Wiring Schematic

Pedal unrelated… Does anyone have a link to, or an image of, a true schematic of a traditional Strat circuit. Not a wiring diagram (there’s thousands of those online) but a bona fide electronic schematic, showing the input jack, pots, caps, switch, etc. — just like something Mr. Bugg would...

    AIAB Suggestions…

I've built most of the Victory V1 pedals - the "cleanest" one I've found is the Vox-themed Copper. The rest will add varying amounts of gain. Recently built the Lovepedal Super Six “Stevie Mod” Overdrive (PedalPCB Super Stevie) and it really does the Super Reverb well. However, it is...

    favorite Echoplex preamp PCBs?

I know you're asking for a PCB, but these are so easy to build on vero, and sound great. Here's a layout, and my build:

Only one thing missing, to make it even betterer... a cutout with a plexiglass window, to show off the internal awesomeness.

Anyone have experience with repairing pedals?

I'd add Step "0." to this list - the sniff test - gives you an idea if something might have burnt out.

    SOLVED Black eye no signal

Couldn't agree more!! My rule when building pedals - whether pre-made PCBs or vero - if it's black, it's Ground.

SOLVED cetus preamp - no signal when engaged

Ok, forget all these power supplies (who knows what you have there!) and try a new 9V battery. That’s a known voltage, and not susceptible to any noisy house wiring. Take one of those old Radio Shack power supplies, cut off the plug side (leaving about 6 inches of wire), throw out the PS, strip...

SOLVED cetus preamp - no signal when engaged

Great job with sticking with it! Years ago, with my first few builds (before I discovered the helpful online forums) several landed up in the trash before I understood the basic and systematic troubleshooting approaches. And yes, the Cetus is a noisy circuit, especially with the gain past...

    SOLVED Chop Shop Woes

I’d say no. A component might be making contact even if the solder pad is not good. The slightest pressure or movement of the part could break contact, or vice versa. I’d definitely reflow to ensure solid, clean joints everywhere.

    Re-capping old pedals???

I find the banter quite entertaining, and that’s why I listen. I fully recognize that you’ll get 5-10 minutes max of gear talk, but that’s ok with me. After 460 episodes, what really is there to talk about gear-wise any more?

    Re-capping old pedals???

Also, since many guitarists leave their pedals in their pedal boards (which are powered by a DC brick), even if the pedal is not "on" (i.e., the LED is not lit) it is actually on all the time, just bypassed from the audio path. So, assuming you never power down your pedalboard, that's 744...

SOLVED cetus preamp - no signal when engaged

May I suggest a little more planning with your builds? Use sockets for ICs, transistors, and even for diodes. Order components that are size-appropriate to the board you're building (e.g., user lower voltage film caps, which are much smaller than those huge greenies), pull the components all...

SOLVED cetus preamp - no signal when engaged

Not sure if this is the main culprit, but looks like you have these 220p and 2n2 caps switched: Also, you’ve soldered your ICs directly to the board instead of socketing them - looking at the amount of solder used (on the top side of the board - no idea what the underside looks like) you...
