I have a 6 knob project coming up & I needed the aluminium on the top of a skinny Black Knob.
With my Electric Hand Drill clamped sideways in the Vice with a 1/4'' stainless shaft & various grades of Sandpaper this was the end result.
With a careful scalpel, the white pointer paint pops out in one piece!:

Very daring to use a scalpel to make the white bits pop off.

What if... Next time the knob is locked onto a drill-bit shaft and placed in the drill and applied to stationary sandpaper...

I do that when the knob is stationary!

It tends to chatter, the electric hand drill spins way faster and the sandpaper seems to self centre on the knob to get symmetrical circles using one digit on your hand???

Splendid I've a feeling they're gonna be just the job

Did you pop the black line in and then sand it

It's a nice idea you could use any colour for the line or several for easy custom knobs
