Park and Ride (Half-Cocked Wah)

Put together a Park and Ride yesterday. I ran out of imaginative names so just called it 'Wah' so friends can have some idea of what it is.

One issue was that the TL074 is not a 16 pin IC, but a 14 pin, so I had no sockets for it and had to solder it direct. Another was that it requires a 4u7 electrolytic which I didn't have so I used 2 x 10uF in series. (If you place the anode of one and cathode of other through the holes first, then connect the spare leads, it fits). Well, it all worked.

Been playing it for while and it has greatly exceeded my expectations - if you have one, find a minor blues backing track or loop and give it some - it has that incredible Peter Green flute-like wail (without having to mod the guitar). Another great tone to add to the pedalboard.

I didn't touch the trimpot but I get that killer tone with everything in the middle - is it worth opening it up to try the trimmer?

As the Park and Ride doesn't seem to be a popular build I thought I'd just drop in and say that this pedal has returned to my pedalboard, replacing one of my overdrives (shock!). I find it adds a very nice tonal option that you just cant get without a wah pedal. Highly recommended if you like early Clapton (try soloing for days over White Room, it's got that tone nailed).

I built one for my brother. It’s not something I would have chosen for myself. But when I tested it I found myself playing for quite a while and having a lot of fun pretending to be Zappa

Clean build, well done.

I'm not confident enough to solder ICs right to the board, I'd have waited 'til I have the socket, snip a 16 down to 14, or used SIP sockets — so kudos for the balls-to-the-wall approach, too.
