Has anyone built the Death by Audio Synthesizer album?

How sturdy does it seem? Have you mounted it on anything or or built an enclosure or just using as is? Can you even mount it with the knobs being on the same side as the components?

I've just started helping my friend source the parts, as the parts kit was pretty expensive to order from them. Pretty straightforward so far, but not sure what his plans are to "finish" it just yet

Ya it's way too much with the kit. But i have all the parts on hand already so was thinking about pulling the trigger!

If i get it though. I'm hoping to take measurements and release a drill template if anyone wants to build like a wooden box or maybe plexi-glass cover. That if, like I said, that works with the knobs being on the same side as the components

I’m in the process of building it and made a full parts list with direct links to Mouser and Stomp Box Parts if anyone is interested. I chose all the most affordable parts to keep the total price down. One thing to note is that a few parts are specific. The rotary switches have to be the metal Alpha unsealed kind to line up with the holes correctly and the jacks need to be the smaller footprint Neutrik style for the same reason.

The pcb is sturdy but the exposed traces on the artwork side are pretty small and delicate. Looks really cool but not the greatest design choice. I plan on building a wooden frame for mine that will cover the bottom and maybe add a clear plastic top too. The pots and knobs go on top with all the components.

Message me if you want the full list.

Should be able to put it in any enclosure that fits it, most likely a custom enclosure. There are 2 work-arounds for mounting above the components. Depending on the tallest component, you could use "Tall Leg" potentiometers, if you want everything mounted to the board. Or you can just wire everything, and it looks like that would be a ton of wiring.

All forms of the DBA Synth are sold out; did you manage to get one?
The price seems to have gone up a bit from the $35 pre order but it’s still available at Ameoba with free shipping. Seems like a bunch of online record shops have it available too but will most likely charge shipping.

What about grabbing a 2-3mm rubber sheet for the solder points to sink into, so you can screw the whole panel onto an painted MDF board that's the exact size of the sleeve? With one of those photo frame stands, it would make like a nice object to sit on a desk or shelf or something. :)

That might cover it...

based on the usual enclosure to circuit size ratio of DBA stuff, how big of a hammond console will I need? Circuit breaker box?
Get a 33x69cm piece of plexiglass, drill the mounting holes for the hardware in the top half, melt it in the center and bend it over a 2x4(38x90?), 32cm deep on the top. 31cm on the bottom with a 15° incline. Slap on some wood side panels and toss in a RGB seizure inducer. Add another 12cm if you want to bend a back panel.

There's a PCB? I though it was pointless to pointless cardboard... 🤷‍♂️

Just cut one edge and fold it at 90º, then offboard wire the broken traces... 😹
