Need a chonky 3pdt toggle

Hi!

I am in need of an on/on 3pdt toggle for a desktop headphone amp/cab sim I’m putting together.

Looking for something with some heft, like a clunk, not the petite little click you get when you use a tayda switch. I want to know this thing is on.

Searched LMS, Tayda and SBP, didn’t see anything really.

Any suggestions?

I've seen some pretty chonky switches like described at automotive shops and hardware stores in the electrician's section.

Might have seen them at Princess Auto, too.

I could get them at the electronics street in HK, Ap Lui Do.

If you want a good clunk, there's all these footswitches that would do the trick. Put a plastic cap on it, and you got a "turning on a machine" like effect. Anyway, I'd search on Ebay for one of those vintage switches; it's your best bet for finding a robust / industrial variation of these. Cuttler Hammer brand has a lot of nice options and are quite readily available. Not cheap, but hey... If you want a hefty feel, you have to spend some money.

You'll mostly find the DPDT at brick&mortar places, but the CHONKY 3PDTs are out there, too.

I'm sure you've already looked but I got curious — ONLINE...
  • Cleveland $157 @ partstown
  • Made In Mexico $40 @ KGE Électronique (couldn't make out the brand, KGE watermarked the pic)
  • NKK $28 @ Mouser
  • Morris $22 @ Amazon
  • Uxcell $15 @ Amazon
  • Zengtai $14 @ Lee's Electronics (shop in store if you're in Vancouver)
  • Carling $11.50 @ Grainger
  • unbranded $7 @ eekflay
Didn't check TaoBao, that's a Labyrinth, as is AliExpress... also tougher with those to know the Quality because there will be hundreds of shops selling the same thing or close to the same thing — rubbish and decent enough all look the same 'cause they're all using the same photo.

GOOD LUCK!

I think Robert and Feral Feline might have the right idea. Automotive switch + relay. For example:

I’m curious about the circuit- is one of the poles for an LED? If so, then you could get away with a DPDT toggle, because the handle direction indicates whether it’s on or off.

Yeah, doing an led on this circuit. It’s a speaker sim/headphone amp combo. Want a way to play and test pedal builds while Mrs G does her masters studies.

Trying to make it amp like, using a jewel lens, amp knobs and a switch with a good chonky click.

These look somewhat similar to Fender style amp switches.

You could use one side to control a DPDT relay for bypass and the other side to control the LED.
