Felt like knocking something out after work and Fuzzy Foxx was on deck… Decent little fuzz… Really needs stacked with something to thicken it up. I’m not digging the octave but it could be my choice of trannies I just threw in

for best octave, D1 and D4 need to be matching. and preferably close to 0.33v forward voltage.

For the rectifier diodes, you want something with a VF as close to 0.33v as possible. You can use BAT46 Schottky diodes as a sub which are 0.35v. Once you get into higher VF, the effect may not work correctly. I tried D9E recently which have a VF of 0.45v and they did not work at all!

For the clipping diodes there is more leeway, so higher VF in not a circuit breaker.

and if you really wanna be pedantic, measuring and matching R5+R4, R11+R10, and C3+C4 can help too.

My diodes were all matching FV and they were D9j … They were all almost spot on .35 -.36
The transistors were measured around 389-400 HFE… Measured a few in the batch to get as close as I could with the handful I had with no significant outliers..

What transistors did you use? I've built this circuit twice and it's nothing short of thick as a brick every time. That was even true when I accidentally used some fake germaniums and that fv of .45-.50. I wonder if you've got something going on with the pinout as the hfe you used should work well.

im not so sure that the gain of any particular transistors really need to be matching in this circuit, it appears to be more about those diodes and components around them

Bro…. #1 I’m camera shy #2 I don’t know how to setup my rig to record and do video.. I have a Scarlett solo that I plug my pedalboard into to play… My webcam is like looking at a flip phone from 1990…. Although I do Know how to use OBS to stream because I use to stream my video game play on twitch years ago.
#3 I suck at playing ..
