I've built a lot of compressors, and I think it comes down to which style you like best. There's no real way to know that until you try a bunch. My favorite from this site so far is the Creamery. It feels really nice to play and I can't explain exactly why

Random question. If I have an A taper pot wired as a variable resistor, wouldn't swapping lugs 1 and 3 create a C taper pot with the knob turning the opposite way? Or am I thinking about this the wrong way

I would say aside from the fact they both use j201s and have bass and treble knobs they sound surprisingly different. At least the ones I've built. The eq controls on the Soma seem a lot more effective than the Benson
