unbalanced to balanced line isolator; is it this simple?

so a follow-up on this one: the JT-11-DMCF in the Jensen schematic is $90 and seems a lot more heavy duty than I would expect a line out signal would require. Would any 1:1 transformer with a similar 600 ohm impedance likely work for this application...

unbalanced to balanced line isolator; is it this simple?

I'm looking into making a DIY line isolator for running a DSP guitar pedal direct into a PA, similar to the mono 1/4" input to XLR in the Miso direct box. https://pinstripepedals.com/product/miso/ Pinstripe says they're using a Jensen transformer in their Miso box, and Jensen has this...

What does everyone do for a living?

It's like a lot of jobs, there's cool parts and parts that are not so great. I think the "sleep under your desk" thing is an exaggeration, but there are some places that are more inclined to crunch culture. I try to avoid those situations tho. I just made the model, the animators made him...

What does everyone do for a living?

I'm a 3D Character Artist in the video game industry. I've been at several studios on several projects but currently work for Nintendo. One of my characters from Remnant 2 that came out pretty metal

This Week on the Breadboard: ROG Tri-Vibe

I may be the only person who would ever want this, but I for my Tri-Vibe I wanted something like the Leslie Speed Switch that would slowly ramp up or down when switched between fast and slow speeds.

    British Royalty voltages?

    Thank you Robert!

    British Royalty voltages?

Hi folks, any particular voltages for the British Royalty Overdrive? I got mine to around 4.5v and it sounds very close to the demos I’ve heard. Maybe not quite as much breakup on mine so that’s why I was wondering if I should just set the trimmers by ear once I get them in range.

    Can pedals “go bad?”

Good suggestions, thanks! This is the version I made. Having the 6.8k resistor as a trim pot might be worth doing too.

    Can pedals “go bad?”

I made a Lumpy’s Tone Shop Lemon Drop on vero like six or seven years ago. I came to really like it a lot and it’s been pretty much my main pedal since then. But lately I feel like the distortion has become kind of over saturated compared with how it usually sounds and there doesn’t seem to be...

    New-ish Builds in Old Enclosures

I have a few enclosures that I ended up liking better than the circuits that went in them, so rather than let them sit there unused I've been looking for something to swap in. The orange one was a transistor Muff Fuzz that just never really did it for me. But I really like the way the...

    Mojito Mark 3

For me, I usually fiddle with the switches until I get a sound I like and then rarely touch them again. A lot of times I'll just set them up as jumpers on the board so I don't need extra parts or drill holes in the enclosure.

    SOLVED No power after enclosure

Is your 9v jack the switched kind? I can never remember which of the 2 hot lugs is switched and which is not so I bridge them with a little piece of cutoff resistor lead.

Show us your side knobs 😤

yeah, they look cool but are actually a total PITA to drill out because they tear so easily, plus they make the mechanical switch POP really loud. The M&M ones are little better because the small size makes them a little more sturdy.

    Pedal board power supplies

Thanks guys, the CS6 looks pretty nice. I like that it doesn't require a wall wart like the MXR. I have 8 pedals on my board but usually only have one or two on at the same time, should work great.

    Pedal board power supplies

Anyone have experience with the MXR Mini Iso-Brick? I have a Fuel Tank Junior that has been working well for several years but I finally traced the noise on my board to the Jr's 9v jacks which have become loose. Looking for something low profile for under the board. Would prefer it not cost more...

Buddy's Kit Build Journey - Show off yours as well!

Here's my Tenderizer build I put together back in the 90s (I was in a band called Tenderloin at the time). The body and neck are from Tak Hosono's shop, I did the stain & assembly and a friend sprayed the clearcoat for me. Not sure what I was thinking about when I ordered these parts. The body...

What would I need to know before rehabbing a Ceriatone Lightning?

    I guess I need to start looking for the amp wiring threads. 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅
