Dunno. Maybe substitutions. I’ve build a couple of these now and I dig them. My customers praise them too. When I test pedals I use an Orange Terror and a Mosrite copy. The recording has a lot of reverb and compression that the pedal doesn’t make so I wonder if people are missing that part.

No, A=Anode, K=Cathode

Try facing the leds into the ldrs and placing them closer to each other. And make sure you are testing with the ldrs in complete darkness.

You should be at unity volume after noon on the volume pot. And the Carbon Black gets plenty loud. Some vintage fuzzes were not designed to boost, but most should.

I built one of these and I think it is dead on and sounds great. One of the rare instances where the copy lives up to its own hype.

The superfuzz has an unbearable noise floor, while the acetone is silent running. Both make the same woo though.

Change R4 to 4.7M and R2 to 6.8k. I just did this mod and it works great. Unity at noon.
