Hmm - this does indeed look good for tricky situations. Minimum strip length of just under 4mm, looks like - that works. Some reviewers complain that the discarded insulation easily get stuck in the other side... Ever have that problem? Wow, that is one expensive wire stripper! Pretty cool, though.This one is also handy for some tight spots:
The first Knipex you posted looks pretty slick as well, but I feel like I'd constantly have to adjust that screw since I go between 22 and 24 awg. I guess that'd be the case with a lot of these, though. They're pretty close in gauge, so maybe one setting would work for both.
I use this Klein, and I'm pretty happy with it. I'd love something compact for tight spots, though... preferably not seventy dollars, good god!

It's not up to the standards of a great many. But many of their tools are just as good... for a price that blows the big names out of the water.
If their Icon line isn't just as good as Snap-on, it's 95% as good for 25% of the price. And I regularly see their Daytona floor jacks in high-volume garages.
That said, for hand tools that I use frequently, I do tend toward Japanese or German manufacturing. Engineer and Knipex are hard to match for high-use, high-quality items.

What would you say the minimum strip length is for that Katapult? It seems like many of these auto strippers may take off more than is needed for most pedal applications…

You can take off as little as you like, but you need to be able to feed in 1/2" or so of wire that won't get stripped... if that makes sense.

Gotcha! Hmm this sounds pretty good, especially with those smaller jaws…
I really do like the looks of that expensive, compact one but it does seem like it’d just constantly be jammed up…

To be clear, on that little plastic Knipex one, you can strip as little as you like with that one too. It's just that the depth stop's lowest setting is 4mm. If you're looking for maximum precision in repeatability, that's as low as it goes. If you don't mind eyeballing it, you can pull off much less than that.
And I want to reiterate that you're paying a lot for what you get with those.

The tugging is more annoying than clearing the off-cut insulation. It's very easy to clear, but if you were stripping more than 10 pre-cut lengths of wire or a similar chore, it would get annoying.

The Hello Sailor guy has mad skills with flush cutters. He does a lot of stuff with his pedals that I never would, but I'm here to praise his ability to strip, tweeze, squeeze, and finagle with just a good set of cutters. He finishes his enclosures top-notch, too, now that I'm thinking about it.
