Bellum Fuzz MKII-Germanium Transistors instead of Germanium Diodes?

Hey y'all. I'm building a Bellum Fuzz MKII and I realized I don't have any 1n34a diodes.

I do have a few 1t308a GE transistors and some 2n404 GE transistors. Is it possible to use those and if so, how would I wire them in the circuit.

Thanks in advance!

Ge BJTS can be uses as clipping elements. Usually it's the B-E junction. You can check with a DMM. Just be mindful of leakage - Ge leaks.

Switching from GE diodes to GE transistors isn't the same. You'll get a vastly different sound as a result. Stick with silicon transistors with the same HFE range if you want the same sound. If you don't have 2N5088's then just use some that have a similar HFE.

As for diodes, there are a number of Schotky's that will work. A 1N60 silicon diode will work. As will a BAT41. Basically anything with a similar forward voltage is fine.
