I don’t have too much issue with drinking grounds from my French Press. You have to grind the beans a bit more coarsely. The mesh screen is suppose to help emulsify the extracted oils with the hot water, proving a much more robust, rich flavor, with a tight low end, and nice upper mids…

My wife cut back on coffee, so now I usually make a single cup for myself using a cheap plastic dripper that I originally bought for a camping trip. Works great.

I have a pour-over made by a local potter. Potters usually have one in their lineup (if they aren’t tired of making them).

Do like the Peet’s, no me gusta on the drip action though.Ix-nay on the Od-pays! I will never buy a coffee maker that uses pods. Just wasteful and you can't really dial in the flavor you want based on the size of the cup. Plus, using custom coffee grounds is a pain. Much prefer a traditional drip maker.
That said, one of my all time favorite coffees is Pete's Big Bang. That's pretty much my regular I buy. It's a medium roast so it's still smooth and provides plenty of caffeine.
On the bright side, the millennial/gen Z crowd will “discover” it and make it popular again touting superior brew quality.What do you mean “some bygone generation”? I have one of those.

I've seen it in the grocery store but never tried it. I don't think it's terribly popular around here, but I don't get out much.

Avoid it. Unless you desperately need to poo.
I like using a moka pot for stovetop ‘espresso’—I never really connected with the percolator, though. I know I’ll forget about it and have it melt on the stove. They’re also a bit of a pain to clean.

I'm also an aeropress guy. Got one thinking it would be great for camping and it quickly became my daily brewer. I got through college as a barista and know how to pull a great shot but I prefer the pseudo French press quality of the aero. Easy to adjust time/temp/ratios. I break out the ol French press proper when there's guests.
Edit: My town is notorious for coffee snobbery and I'm no exception. 30 min after grinding, your beans begin to go stale. I have a friend who I introduced to my coffee roaster so we keep the same beans on hand. He also uses the aero. Only difference is he grinds it all when he gets it. When i go to his place, his coffee sucks.

My French Press is made of STEEL!
Not only tougher than glass, but also insulated*
I have had issues in the past with the mesh filter deforming around the edges. Even though I don’t mind some sediment, bigger grounds floating around kind of look like fruit flies (sometimes an issue with a compost collection bowl) doing the back stroke in my coffee.

Ever looked for a replacement?
Before I found the STEEL French Press, I found myself buying replacement glass a number of times and I'd usually notice the mesh screens for sale.
My STEEL press came with a back-up screen in the box*

I don’t like brewed coffee, as has been mentioned in the other thread, but I do dig coffee-crusted stuff and all that. Anyone else like that kind of stuff? Got my dad some coffee dry rub from Trader Joe’s recently. Haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds good.
