Coffee Talk

A week with Mr Coffee and I miss my Keurig.

I don't need variables when I'm just waking up. :ROFLMAO:
Gotta use the delay function if it has one, that way you can make your measurements when you are conscious and then it will be waiting for you to stumble forth through the sleep fog to the “ol brown n sloppy”

Every time I've ever done that the filter gets damp overnight and falls down into the basket... then I wake up to a cup of sawdust. :ROFLMAO:

I picked up a refurbished Jura Capresso machine probably 15 years ago and it was still pricey, but life could not exist without it. I've had to have it serviced twice and each of those bills could have easily bought me any number of other coffee makers, but so it goes.
My in laws have a jura. It’s fantastic they recently had to replace it. there old machine had over 10,000 cups of coffee on it. They had it less than a decade.

I’ve been enjoying my little areopress. Easy to use and clean, makes great tasting coffee

I don't mind a bit of sawdust in there, but when the filter collapses it makes such a mess in the basket.

Supposedly rinsing your filters helps with the flavor. Just put in basket and run a little water over it before filling with glorious beans. That way it won't fall overnight. My OCD makes the same cup o joe (ole brown 'n sloppy) every time. Life has enough variables, don't mess with the coffee!! No way I can do a Keurig. If you go by how much weight of coffee is in those things it's very eye opening. I weighed 12 grams of grounds in one pod and we use 18 grams in our daily brew of 4 cups. Of course everyone loves the pods...they're all hopped up on goofballs!

Oh I know, I've been trying to convince myself just based on the weight and difference of a box of pods vs a bag of whole beans.

More than double the coffee for half the price....

Just dawned on me that I might have one of those refillable pods somewhere... If so I'm willing to give it a shot.

Sometimes I think they mix instant coffee in with the Keurig pods, the McCafe pods are awfully strong to only use a 1/2 teaspoon of coffee.

I think that’s it exactly. Ive always gotten a sort of artificial flavor in the background, with k-cup coffee…

Wait... 18g of beans for 1L of water? That is... very little coffee in your coffee.
Most recipes for a nice cup are more like 15-18g beans per 250g water.

I have to balance my love for a nice strong cup o mud with my love for my wife, who likes coffee flavored water.

I'm the least Italian person I know but morning coffee for me is our typical pre-ground Lavazza Oro brewed in a Bialetti Moka pot.

The coffee connoisseur rabbit hole is too deep and full of quacky appliances and snobbery for me. I just wanna get going.

I’ve always been very Italian about coffee but at the end of 2021 I decided to take a break because the caffeine had been giving me jitters. So now I drink tea, which although has about the same caffeine as espresso, does not give me the jitters. I do have a decaf cappuccino in the morning though because I still love coffee. Sad times. And I do used to use the Bialetti (one secret: the smaller the better) but my wife got us a Nespresso and now I lazily push pods (reusable ones though).
