El Sol Distortion in the Amp FX loop.

This circuit is one cool circuit how it responds so well to your guitar volume. that got me thinking , i could put it in my amps FX loop and use my amps EQ/volume to push some frequencies into clipping while others are still clean. push the mids up higher and they clip before the other frequencies. i had to post this because this is the first time ive thought to use a gain pedal in the loop of an amp and used my amps preamp to control the amount/frequency of the gain . the nob on my El Sol becomes the new master volume of my amp. it truly makes my cheap solidstate 5 watt MojoDiamond amp come alive and sound just like a SunT amp when pushed. the walls were shaking.

Years ago, before I got into all this building business, I had a new JCM2000 DSL50. At the time I thought it sounded pretty good, but I also had a Matchless Hotbox pedal which is a tube preamp/OD pedal. So I tried plugging it straight into the FX return to use instead of the Marshall's preamp and it sounded great! I also tried it in the loop but it was kinda too much of a good thing.

Have you tried guitar > pedal > FX return? Maybe it will sound terrible but it's worth trying. Something like the Mojito might be worth a try in your FX loop too, for a different flavour.

It's fun trying this stuff out, isn't it?
