I won't vote because this is a rigged question. I don't really see how many folks here could "hate" you Chris, most of us don't know you personally. Speaking for myself, I only know you as GOTA (formerly Winter Soldier, yes, I've been here a while). Sure, your antics and banter with a couple of the other guys here can be a bit over the top, but I generally know what to expect when browsing those threads. I'd rather be checking out build reports and see the cool shit others are building rather than seeing all the hate/nastiness.
Your contributions to the forum by way of build reports are very valuable. I have no doubt that they inspire new builders and give them a level of quality to strive towards. I enjoy seeing your builds and the informative posts you make that help people.
I realize we're adults here, but perhaps the forum has reached a point where a well established code of conduct may be in order. This makes the lines clear.
In the meantime, I hope that you'll refrain from being so hard on yourself. I'm not trying to throw you a pity party, but the frequency in which you talk about self-harm (as you've indicated more than once before) is concerning. I am certain that I am not the only one who has observed this and is concerned. I don't know you Chris, but as a fellow human being, I care about you. After thoroughly reviewing Vicious C's build reports, I can confidently say I didn’t find a single thing wrong in the builds. I’ve spent considerable time going and couldn’t spot any build issues.
Take a look for yourself, there’s not a single cold solder joint, incorrect wire, melted capacitor or anything that would infer poor craftsmanship.
If you do happen to spot something I missed, please, please send me a screenshot with the issue clearly marked.

Seriously though, idk what the deal with the hate is. Some people have thinner skin than others. No one here is a terrible person. If you see that someone isn't responding to the playground boys talk like you wanted them to, then you should reach out to them and say it's not a big thing, you were just busting their balls etc etc. Then make sure they know you are trying to be supportive, but in your own turnaround way, and then use clear language to communicate you were just trying to joke with them. Be a leader, recognize their level, and meet them there. If they don't want to accept you talking with them candidly, then let them have their space. Not everyone, especially the type to do our hobby, responds well to the back handed compliment kind of attention.
Just reach out to whoever you think is a dilwad for not "getting" your humor, and tell them that you don't hate them, that's just your style, and you like them contributing to our group. It doesn't hurt anything or anyone. And I'm not just talking to Gota, I'm talking to everyone.

It doesn't make them stupid or sensitive, it's just that they had a different upbringing or are in a different environment or something works differently inside their brain. People are different from each other and you shouldn't expect everyone to "get" double entendre back handed compliment type of humor.
Gota, you come off a bit strong. Most people need time to develop a relationship and build up to the kind of shit talking you come right out of the gate with. This is why some people react so negatively to it - you haven't given them time to get to know you. It doesn't make you a bad person, but you should keep in mind not everyone thinks like that.

Some of you took this way more seriously than I ever expected. I just wanted to know if more people thought I was a waste of a human like locrain99 said or if I should just let it go. Apparently more people think I'm gonna kill myself, and at the rate things are going you may not be wrong

But I lose interest real fast when things get negative. Maybe you fellas in the US are suffering because of the toxic hate environment there these days? I dunno. But we all just don't need more hate, whether in jest or meant literally. Seems to me that hate is just an expression of insecurity. And it hurts everyone. 99% of the time it's unwarranted and purely destructive. It's unnecessary and isn't really funny either, even when used as a joke.
This is the only forum I participate in or read, and that's because it's overwhelmingly friendly, generous and supportive, with very little of that snide smartassy attitude that invariable creeps in on other forums. I've got a huge amount of negativity going on in my life currently, so I've no need for it here on the forum.
So I simply don't engage in it.
If someone's skin isn't thick enough to handle the IAIGF-type threads, then why engage in it? Click on a different thread to read.
I appreciate that some derive enjoyment from the roastings, just as some enjoy drifting one by the drummer on the band-stand and then walk away from it chucklng (not me), but...
Even when I don't have as much negativity going on in my personal life, away from the forum, the whole "roasting" thing isn't my bag and I'm not good at it — I couldn't even get the "hot-takes" thing right in that thread.
I see Chris/TWS/GOTA go out of his way to help people he doesn't even really know that well, helps them with their builds in some way — to someone new to the forum, they won't have had time to see that side of him.
There is room for everyone here: those paint-by-numbers types that do not want to ever learn to read a schematic; those that prefer the DIY-look of a Sharpie-labelled raw enclosure; those that build 2-3 circuits for themselves and disappear back to commercially available pedals; and those that want to meticulously craft something better than any commercial producer could muster...
Plenty of room for everyone and their respective proclivities.
Perhaps the rest of us could step-up when needed, say to the newbs-to-the-forum "Hey, don't worry about so-and-so, he's just busting your chops", but also "Hey, newb, show some respect, don't mouth off to anyone here when you don't even know the lay of the land yet."
I used to play Ultimate Frisbee — there are no referees, games are self-policed ... much like this forum.
Let's keep it that way, self-controlled, lest Robert have to pay moderating-banners to officiate the forums — banishing members and banter — and in so doing, necessitate advertising-banners.
Best damned forum since RockabillyBass-dot-com got torpedoed.

I didn't really follow what was going on in the other thread, just posted a project I decided to put together in response. I'm still not 100% sure what's going on because I skipped a lot of posts. I've seen far far worse than IAIGF, but I supposed maybe I'm just desensitized from surfing the old internet.
It shouldn't be that hard to realize when what you think is playful ribbing is actually just you being an asshole. That's not a specific dig at GOTA or anyone in particular, just an observation.
