fdic boost? what GE Diodes?

Don't worry about part numbers with germamium diodes. Anything with a voltage drop of ~0.2-0.3 should work fine.

I'm a total noob... I guess i can search how to measure the voltage drop... i have some D9E, 1n34a and one other type on hand

BAT41 or BAT46 are a cheap and easy replacement for $$$ Ge clipping diodes.

Multimeter in diode mode. Those part numbers (if authentic) should be just fine in this circuit.

Any of those will work fine. Socket the diodes and switch them around, see what you prefer!
