Footswitch-able Inputs

I want to pick the collective genius brain of these forums with a switching/routing question.

Most of the stuff I make is for my brother, who plays electric cello, bass and mandocello professionally. He wants a box with an buffered FX loop (no problem there) and a single output.

What I can't figure out yet is the inputs. He wants 3 inputs, but footswitch-able so only one can be "on" at once. I know I could do 2 inputs with a 4pdt switch but I don't know what to do with 3 ins. Is there a wiring for multiple 3pdt switches that ground out the other switches?

Open to any ideas. And please feel free to set me straight if I am being obtuse. Thanks!

You could use two footswitches for an (A or (B or C)) type configuration or use Intelligent Relay Bypass modules:

Very cool. This way, he could run effects parallel if he wanted.

Thanks @Robert, I think the relay modules are the way to go. I should have known you already figured out a solution for this one.
