How about an effects pedal switcher / interface / loop switcher etc?

With all of these pedals, it would be pretty awesome to have a feature-rich interface along the lines of a Boss ES-5 or ES-8. The right combination of features would make this way better than most, if not all of the similar products out there. Here is my wish list of features (not in order of precedence):
  • combination 1/4" TRS/XLR balanced input
  • bypassed/through output
  • XLR balanced out
  • buffered phono output
  • pad switch / pot / rotary to attenuate the signal
  • one or more ground lift switches if it makes sense for some / all loops to have their own since ground loops = bad!
  • 5 - 8 loops, multiple selectable
This is a bit of a merging of the Boss ES-x and the Analog Alien EPI. Thoughts?

Have you looked at the existing DIY options?

There are projects from :
JMK/THCustom Epic Looper,
ukelectronic.de looper,
BYOC Super8,
and a few others I can’t remember plus more DIY cobblers.

I’d be happy with a clone of the Carl Martin Octa 8-channel with dip switches, or any of the Flex Reaction Compound 44/66/88. The One-Control utilities are another area of exploration.

I want solutions to problems I don’t even have, yet.

Super8 was one of the first kits I bought, but I’ve yet to build it — it’s part of the back-log of projects while I build up my overall build-skills a bit better. It seemed a bit daunting when I bought it, but now it’s just a matter of finding time to tackle it.

@jimilee, I didn’t understand, what is the hardware lacking when compared to the programmability?

More ins and outs.
