IC Sockets

Over the last few months I discovered that these types of sockets:

Can be a problem. The ICs need to be inserted with considerable force to make sure the IC is making good contact on all pins. Upon reseating parts on pcbs I was ready to abandon they started working. Originally they appear to be inserted but upon inspection they are either lopsided or not all the way in.

Any good alternatives?

Facts... the machined sockets are better. That's why they are a tad more spendy.

I just ordered the machined ones.

For leaflet sockets, you have to bend the legs at a clean 90 degrees.
Once that's done, I have no trouble with them.
Or just solder the ICs

Wait…am I the only one that has NEVER had an issue with leaf sockets? Well I sat on one once but will consider that a separate issue.

Use them regularly. I prefer them for dips. Machine sockets for TO99, or solder

It wasn't until this March I realized the ICs were not seated properly. I must have salvaged 4-5 pedals after going back to check on them.
