Informant mods

i just built an informant works great and sounds good. But, it’s a bit of a one trick pony, even with the drive all the way down it sounds pretty high gain. Looking at the circuit I see two non inverting op-amp stages before the clipping diodes. The first stage has a gain of about 5.5 the second stage has a gain range of about 2 to 200. After the clipping stage the last op-amp has a gain roughly 1 which makes this more or less a buffer.

I feel the range of drive is really only useful, for me, in the first 1/4 to half of the rotation and the starting gain is too high. Maybe a 50k pot for drive.

I seem to remember people suggesting a reverse log pot for this type of arrangement. If this is true it might spread the gain out along the range of rotation making it feel better?
