Or any other feedback loop pedal like the sonic annihilation would be great to have, although having the APE preamp would be awesome!

Agreed. It would be awesome to have this circuit. Especially for a sort of BYO Lego version of a tape echo emulation.

Fairfield Operator? would be my choice for a basic FBL, but the APE would be fun to monkey around with.

The Operator is passive as far as I can tell, so it should be easy to replicate?
