I bought the real deal recently, and I have to say it is the best Plexi style pedal I have ever heard, and I have been through way too many of those with few of them coming close to impressing me.

I cracked it open to take a look see, as I do with any pedal i buy, and it is SMT, but i was able to identify 2 4558 chips and there are also 3 transistors...if I had to guess I bet they're J201, as per the usual concept of tube replacement.

I bet it would sell decent, I'd like to get a couple to build for friends.

Isn't that one supposed to be close (or similar) to the sound of the Missing Link Audio Eliminator (ZZ-Topp-style drive)?

I did build the Missing Link clone. I would say that if you're going for an 80's and beyond Gibbons sound, the Audio Eliminator is a good choice but I would consider it closer to a distortion pedal than an overdrive. For people like me who worship 70's ZZ Top, the El Hombre is the GOAT.

No surprises here, how many pedals will be milked from this circuit like the Archer series?

Ha! Yes it does. Yours has through-hole caps! Mine is all surface mount.

I wouldn’t try tracing mine since I paid full price for it, and any of my previous attempts at tracing a surface mount pedal have ended in the trash bin.

…and then there was the time I decided to trace the Analog Alien Bucket Seat because it was gooped in two spots and I was curious, only to end up discovering that it is just an OCD with no hp/lp switch.

I've already traced the Broverdrive so we're probably just looking at a few (if any?) component value differences.

It is a modified ODR-1.
