JLCPCB multi-colour silkscreen

Faaaawnkweee! Have to check that out....

Edit: seems to require to work with EasyEDA.... no Diptrace sigh...

Yeah, it doesn't use the Gerber format (or rather the Gerber format doesn't allow for it), but for faceplates it's not such a big deal I think.

Custom face plates?

The biggest catch I see right now (aside from requiring the use of EasyEDA) is that you have to elect for ENIG surface finish.

It's hard to gauge the cost right now because of the special pricing, but that's an awfully big price jump when a faceplate doesn't even have any copper to begin with.

I hope this does become standard and that functionality is added to the usual software packages. It'd be pretty cool to print resistor color codes directly onto the PCB. (of course you Team RefDes folks would just have to print the refdes in various colors, I guess.....)

The EasyEDA requirement is easy enough to work around, it can import projects from Eagle, Altium, and KiCad. DipTrace users will have to take an additional step to convert to one of those formats, but it's still doable.

Looks amazingly cool - I'd have to figure out whether or not this would make it cheap enough for me to go the faceplate / self-drill route rather than the custom drill / UV print route... may be cool for limited edition stuff if nothing else.

This is cool as hell. Mech keyboard people love this type of shit, I can only imagine it’ll be popular. Opening the thread I was really expecting just the option of black or white on different solder masks instead of being locked into one (black on yellow is readable as fuuuuck) but this is more interesting
