LDR question

I just built the Chalumeau and everything appears to be working as it should but I after looking at the build docs, I noticed it said to use a 5mm yellow LED. I haven't built a pedal with photo resistors yet so I randomly chose with this 5mm red LED and this LDR. My question is with this LDR would it make a difference in red vs yellow LED and also should the LDR be touching the LED or angled in any way? This what it currently looks like.

Yellow seems to work the best, but if yours is working properly and you're happy with it I wouldn't change it.

Typically you see the LED angled so it's pointing at the LDR, but recently I've seen a couple builds done the way yours is setup here and it seems to work great. Again, if it's working I don't know if I'd change it.

Thanks! Yeah, everything sounds great, especially with the fuzz turned off, although it sounds good with it on too. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't sound completely different with a yellow vs red.
