Great Flanger! I need to do some comparison to the MXR 117 flanger that I built a while ago. This is a fun build, but I wanted to share some issues that I experienced. Page #3 has the values of the parts listed, but there was one discrepancy. R20 is listed as 100R, but is 470R on the BOM and mock-up picture on page #14. I used 470R. I also did not have a 22pF cap, so I had to use two caps in series (27pF and 120pF). I had 33uV caps, but they were only rated for 16V. I looked at the schematic and realized that I only needed caps rated for 16V because I am using the V3207 IC. When noticing this fact, I realized that I didn’t need the voltage regulator (78L15). 🤦🏻‍♂️. My rate knob also did not work. I reflowed the joints and it is working. I hope it isn’t a bad pot. I don’t like replacing pots!

Well, I hope my musings will help someone else’s build!

That's a cool look- the colors are great and the rough/smooth textures of the enclosure/faceplate are really working together well!

This is so funny, I have that exact same enclosure and was planning on putting the Current Lover in there as well :ROFLMAO:

Love the faceplate color combo with it. Nice build!

Nice!

DDI > DIY
(daughter did it :ROFLMAO: )
Once school is out, she is going to do some art for a UV design. I am more that proud to DDI ! 🤣

The Aqua vein color is perfect for a modulation pedal. It is a great sounding pedal. I think it is a little more dynamic (like chorus effect) with the flanging when compared to the MXR 117. Enjoy!

You mentioned your rate knob doesn’t work. Is that in both modes activated by the toggle switch? Because the documentation says that the rate knob is disabled when the toggle is set to Matrix (to the right)

Two things, both related, honest:

1. I’m currently in the midst of building the 18 V version. With respect to the discrepancy between the 100R And 470R resistor, over on his forum, Madbean actually said that it should’ve been a 100R on the diagram, so that’s what I’m going to use. I doubt it makes much of any difference given the low value of either resistor but purely FYI. How do you like the sound? I’ve heard conflicting stories about whether you have to dime the volume to get to unity gain, and I’m not sure if it’s any different in that regard between the 9 V in the 18 V version,

2. With respect to your point above, I too am very lucky to have a daughter who is an artist and a whiz at using adobe illustrator. I am actually building the Current Lover as part of a 2-in-1 with the XC Phase (since that pedal runs at 9 V, the hive mind here convince me that it’s best to just use two different DC inputs rather than trying to go from 18 V to 9 V or 9 V to 18 V and share a DC jack). In any event, here is a picture of the enclosure that my daughter created for me, which should be in the final stages of being printed at Tayda as we speak.

Wow! Great art work. Your daughter did a great job and I am eager to see the build report.

As for the resistor, I like the sound with the 470r in placed. I was lazy and did not look at the schematic to try to determine the use of that resistor. I would be interested to know it’s role with the effect.

As for volume, it can get above unity, easily. It is a great pedal.
