Central uses the same recipe. They do occasional odd runs that sell out fast. If you get them from an authorized distributor like Mouser, they measure just like your early 2000 ones. (I've been testing a lot lately.)
The ones from GPCB are the same fake Fairchilds you find on the global market (Aliexpress, Ebay.) Barry only warrants that they're “in the proper range for guitar pedals.” I'd mark your transistors in a separate bag labeled “from Barry” to differentiate them for cases when you need them to be exact. There's a separate thread where he showed me that he tested them on an Atlas for proper performance, which was nice.
I still think the phrase, “from my own personal collection” should have come down the first time he restocked them for full transparency.
