More Dual Rat PCBs

Finally got around starting the Dual Rat PCB project I got from you. Looks pretty straight-forward. Not going to do any real mods, just the clipping toggle options really. Already generated a Tayda drill fie for it. If you want to use it, it can be found here: Tayda 1590BB2 Dual Rat (Deucetone) Drill Template. (You will need a Tayda Drill account to access it.)

And here is the completed pedal mock-up of the intended build.

Thanks JimiLee !

That is awesome. I hope it turns out as cool as the mockup. I'm gonna try a filter expand mod for mine to help dial in some darker tones and I am debating the CB bass mod for one side... Both seems like it could be a tight squeeze

Great news I got more dual rat boards. $7 each to your door in the US. If you haven’t checked out the Proco Deucetone, check it out. It’s really a neat pedal.
I was just looking over the BOM & schematic and I'm a bit confused about R3 & R15 - both are designated as 5560r.
Is that actually 5k56 or is it a typo?

JimiLee - My Dual Rat (DeauceTone) enclosure arrived and I was about to finish my DeucetTone build when I noticed the differences in the schematic and the BOM regarding the Gain and Volume pot values. On the schematic, the Gain is stated as an A100K and the Volume as B100K. But the BOM states the Gain to be B100K and the Volume is also a B100K.

Something tells me the Gain should be a B100K pot and the Volume should be an A100K pot. Conversely, looking at a few other Rat schematics, all three pots should have an "A" taper. Thoughts appreciated.

Though I'll likely try both tapers in all positions before I box 'er up.

I built one with the BOM pots, on the second one I'm going to try all A100k like a normal rat, with the B taper the gain is from zero to bam in just a twitch of a turn.

FWIW, here's a completed Dual Rat (DeuceTone). And if anyone is interested in a painted/labeled/drilled enclosure just like the one shown, drop me a DM and I'll hook you up with Spencer Davis at AmplifyFun to get one. The total cost of a single enclosure, (painted, drilled & shipping), is about 50 zorkmids.

Looks like a number of folks have done one. May need to bring in the big guns on this one if I can’t get it up and running. Never had one kick my tail so bad lol.

Are you having the same issue on both sides?
Yea that’s the kicker. Very low output.
I do notice that when probing I sometimes see the clip LEDs light up hard and stay there so I was thinking oscillation.
Voltages look good, and with test signal I’m getting less output from IC than input. Part values look good in all spots even tried pulling FETs to see if they were pulling it down.
Next step is going to be reflow everything, and try different op amps in case I have a bad batch (I have a known good one in another RAT). And tracing board.
I’ve done probably 45 pedals in last year, and god knows how many in my life (in addition to countless tube amps), so in no stranger . This one definitely has me baffled.

I still, after 13 years, totally trash the occasional pedal.

Are you positive about your parts? I made that mistake about 6 months ago.🤣
